The screen in my head porthole is torn and I would like to replece it. I know the portlight changed in 03 so the screens are removable but on the 02 it looks to be glued to the rubber around the portlight. Has anyone replaced this type of screen and do I need to remove the portlight? If so how do I do that!

I haven't replaced mine yet, but in rough weather I had a couple of my screens disappear into the depths below. Mine is a 99 so likely the same as yours. It would appear that all that is holding the screen in there is the bit of rubber weather stripping that is just stuck onto the aluminum frame of the porthole; remove that and your screen pops out. It looks like the weather stripping would come with a peal and stick type of backing. I've ordered other parts directly from Taylor (who makes my port holes, and probably yours). Taylor will send you an exploded diagram and ask what part numbers you want to order.

Curious if anyone else with the 2002 had solved this issue. A couple of my screens could use repaired/replaced...

I had the same issue on my '02 268. If I recall, I took the trim off from the inside and had to cut and glue a piece of screen to replace the torn screen. I remember is it was a pia to fix. Good luck.

Thanks specialK

So you took the whole inside trim off from the port light, not just the black rubber surround, that seems like a good idea...

is it obvious how it comes apart. boat is in storage.... kinda excited about this fix....

I had the same issue! I had a bumper that got pushed into it. I ended up removing the rubber gasket and glued the screen back on. The issue was that I couldn't get the screen tight again so it looks a bit shoddy. My plan this spring is to remove the whole screen and glue a new piece on. It would be nice to remove the whole porthole to get a better angle, but it looks like a bigger job to have to reseal everything etc. good luck!

That's exactly what happened with mine, the previous owner told me the fenders hit them... he tried to fix them and it looks ok. I will try removing the portlight entirely and see if I can do better
