Poll ended at Fri May 30, 2008 3:44 pm
Bring the cannon to bear!, I plan to use as much gas as I did last year. Life is too short! 61%  61%  [ 27 ]
I'll be using the boat considerable less than last year. 2%  2%  [ 1 ]
I'll be using the boat just as much, but shortening the distance we go on our trips to reduce fuel usage. 27%  27%  [ 12 ]
I'll be using the boat just as much but cutting back on marina stays, eating out, etc so I can put the savings to boat gas. 9%  9%  [ 4 ]

Life's short, make the money, spend it doing something you enjoy. I'd be happier not squandering money on excessive fuel prices, but I didn't buy a powerboat to be frugal. If I wanted that I'd be a rag-bagger. That said, the wife always says 'we WILL have a sailboat when we retire'. So I have a good time bugging the salesman at the sailboat shows asking whether there's an option for a bigger diesel. A catamaran with two big-ass CATS, now that'd be nice...

I plan on using it just as much, if not more! We didn't cruise all that much last year because my 3 little ones had the most fun when we were either less than 1 mile from home or even on our mooring! As long as they can swim!
Just sitting on the boat makes me happy!

I am not sure how this year is going to play out. The boat is right now on a trailer moving south to Florida a few weeks ahead of me. We will be about 20 miles north of Ft Lauderdale. It all depends upon how much time we will really spend on the boat with the ability to use it all year round. I am not sure if the mental drive is going to be there to be on the boat like last year, every weekend from April thru October. We will probably do alot of exploring in the area and at least 1 or 2 overnight trips to the Keys. The wife may actually want to stay home some weekends and do some work on our new home.

BarryBoats:

Welcome! It's rough being able to use the boat year 'round :P 20 miles north, that puts you in the Boca/Delray area. There are some good spots down that way. Worst thing is during the weekends much of the ICW is minimum wake which can be brutal in summertime. Plan some trips north. It's much more rural than the concrete canyons of the South Florida area. You will definitely have to plan a trip north to the Canaveral area when the Shuttle goes up.

Made a new freind on another board that lives close to me. We've conjured a plan to do some "boat pooling" this summer.

Many, many local overnights and atleast one medium-long range cruise of 3-5 days.

Attempt to use the boat more. Im actually thinking about moving to a rack storage due to ease of getting on the water. We are expecting twins end of summer so being by the water would let me use it more.

Thanks. These will be daughters 4&5. The 268 has gotten too small.

We only had ice out in New Hampshire on Wednesday. The marina opened with gas at $4.05 a gallon. I didn't think that sounded too bad and thought it would be worse.

I hope we can burn as much gas as we did last year. Last year was a beautiful summer....it rained during the week and the sun shined most of the weekends. I don't want to jinx it but last summer was one of the best for boating we've had. I only hope we can be out on the water as much as last year.

Boat goes in next month....I can't wait much longer! 8)
