Your right pet575, not all lawyers are scumbags....only the majority are...j/k pet575  , my best friend, and brother are both lawyers...

Great thread and 230Mike, good point! Although he could send the hair to India after he cuts it. There has to be a demand for hair in India (I don't know why-but there just has to be).

Anyone ever hear that old saying, "If you're playing poker, and you can't figure out which guy at the table is the sucker, then YOU are the sucker"? Well, in this case there are no other scumbags here thus far-so I'll take the bullet for the team. I'm the scumbag. That's right, I'm a lawyer.

In my defense, I am not an ambulance chaser, I don't do criminal defense, and I don't represent insurance companies in their attempts to avoid paying claims (although that WAS my first job out of school). Instead, I represent employee benefit funds to ensure that blue collar workers receive medical coverage for themselves and their families as well as their pension benefits when they retire.

Needless to say, I don't lose any sleep at night. So this makes me LESS of a scumbag, right? Right? A little help here???!

I agree; the layers that are the true scumbags all reside in congress

My motto is, "Every neighborhood has one; in mine, I'm him." However, in this case, I'll bow to Paul and simply say, "OK, Paul, you're less of a scumbag!"

:D But seriously, while I hate a great many lawyers as much as anyone, I also realize we'd be SUNK without the good ones (and there are good ones).

On a side note, I've taken those "career/personality preference" tests two different times, both as a working adult, after college. Both times, I was told I should have either been a cop or a plumber. I figure those skills are what have made me successful in IT. I can settle arguments between two competing clients, and make sure their crap moves through the development process as efficiently as possible. You see, it isn't just in the plumbing world that everything flows downhill.

Another lawyer. Represent physicians/hospitals in medical malpractices cases. Most think I'm on the "good" side but I've seen enough to know that that's not always the case. But I don't "write" the facts of my cases. I just deal with the fallout.

I'm a Program Manager/Product Designer/Problem Solver in the Windows Mobile business at Microsoft... primary focus is providing a link between Windows Live services (Hotmail, Messenger, Spaces, Photos) and the Windows Mobile Smartphone.

By chance - do any of you guys use the Windows Live Mail desktop client? It's a free, comsumer focused version of Outlook. If you do - I can say "I did that".

If I am "Our Buddy Steve with the 358V" I am and have been a Flight Attendant for the largest airline (this week anyway) in the world for the past 18 years.

If you are wondering how one can afford such a craft on my meager salary (and BTW we have not had a raise in 5 years and 5 years ago took a 30% pay cut but ONLY 15 percent of it was acutal cash wages.)

My partner and I made several hundred thousand dollars selling our townhouse in Alexandria, VA right before the market collapse and lowered our mortgage to just about 200k. It freed up a lot of income so we could afford a nice boat or four.

The interest rate drop of 2 full points made getting the FW just under 200 bucks a month more than we were paying and we were less than happy with the SR 340 so here we are. We also lowered our boat insurance by nearly 700 bucks by switching from State Farm to NBOA.

It is finally delivered and in our slip, we will begin moving our junk from the garage to the boat this weekend rain or shine. I will hpefully have some pics of her in our slip and later on in the season some on water shots. Our boating club loves to take pictures of each other's boats while on plane!

Steven

Better Luck-
I am a tad jealous I must say. Your choice of boats is awsome. I also love the area you are in. My Partner and I were considering a move to that area. I heard that there is some great boating on the Potomac. We were also considering trailering down for a week or two.

Store man for Holden (GM) Have been there 10 years. I think you get less for armed robbery????
Not sure how this vicious circle started, I work so that I can afford the new boat but need the new boat so that I can have some R and R time to forget about work.
Go figure
