I recently purchased a 2000 Four Winns Vista 268, and my family and I are loving it so far. However, I ran into a serious issue: the manual bilge switch at the helm works fine, but the auto bilge pump doesn’t engage, even when there’s water in the bilge.

We recently took on some water (long story), and the auto bilge never kicked on. Thankfully, we caught it in time, but it could have been much worse.

I suspect the issue is a blown inline fuse on the auto bilge circuit, but despite thoroughly searching the boat—including behind the fuse panel, near the battery switch, and in the engine compartment—I can’t find the inline fuse anywhere.

For now, I’ve temporarily rewired the aft pump directly to the battery with an inline fuse just to be safe, but I’d really prefer to restore the original factory wiring.

If anyone has experience with this model and knows the exact location of the inline fuse or breaker for the automatic bilge function, I’d be very grateful for the help. Photos or diagrams would be even better.

Thanks in advance!

There is no inline fuse. The usual reason the auto bilge switch doesn’t work is sometimes crud builds up on the float switch which is located usually underneath a plastic cover next to the bilge pump. Try removing the float switch, turn it over and clean out any crud you see. Or, it’s just a bad float switch.new one is about $50. Hope this helps.
