Can anyone recommend a good lifejacket for a 35lb kid? My wife wants one that still has the upright head flotation piece (like the infant vests).

It defintitely seems to be a hard style to find. Most of the 30 - 50 are std vests with no head piece.

We were looking for the same thing, my wife also like the infant style that our daughter just grew out of.

Guys, I have a 36 lb 2 year old son with the same problem. We ordered our first jacket for him from Bart's. Since then, we haven't found anything anywhere that is built the same way but just for bigger kids. His is the mini-ski vest type.

I am under the impression if the life vest is of the approved type and worn correctly it should right the child in the event they go over regardless if it lacks the floation collar.

The Mustang brand seems popular for kids PFDs. http://www.mustangsurvival.com/products ... y.php?mc=3

Not the least expensive out there but well regarded.
