What music do you guys listen to and when? How do you "transport" your music?

I generally don't have the radio on when underway because you can't really here it. But when we are sitting in our favorite spots we used to just hope for a good radio signal!(Old H200 was radio or tape deck and the tapes got turfed along time ago around here) I received a sony walkman MP3 for Christmas and have loaded it with all my favorite CD's (AC/DC, ZZ top, Garth Brooks, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Alan Jackson etc....) Now I have discovered that my head unit will not accept an input so it will need to get changed! (Don't even talk to me about those fm modulation pieces of crap because I just took one back to Best Buy!)

Anyways, the point to this post is to see how diversified our "tastes" are!

Mostly classic rock on my boat. Rush, Zepp, Floyd, Van Halen, U2... I have an 80Gig I-pod that carries most of my tunes. I put together a top 100 summer tunes playlist that has been on shuffle for my trips so far. As for a FM Modulator, secret is to find a VERY clear radio station with no feedback or cross signal. Keep looking for one and then buy a quality digital tuner sender for your Ipod. I went through 3 before I found one that worked for me.

Here is the list.

I use a 30-gig Toshiba MP3

In the truck I use a cassette adapter for it, in the car I have a Pioneeer head unit with a front panel Aux-in.

I'm going to try an FM modulator for the boat, before purchasing a new unit just for the MP3 input.

I carry around a 'all in one' type cell phone. I have a 6gig SD card in it with hours of music that I like on it. The '07 is said to have an "iPOD interface" (which means 1/8" jack connection wired to the AUX input). With an adapter I can hook up my phone and play MP3's. 6 gigs is more than enough for me, I still have over 2gigs free. I've actually been tempted to adapt a bluetooth car kit to the boat.

Just got done last fall installing new head deck with rear aux input, to pipe in satilite radio, MP3, kids 60 Gig IPOD or laptop when watching DVDs.
When its just me and wife, the satilite radio does the trick, when kids go, they have to listen to there MP3/IPOD. With satilite, you have good signal at every lake!!! We have them in all our vehicals too.

We listen to anything but rap.

I've got an original iPod nano - series 1 - 4GB. I use it all the time when I travel overseas for work with noise cancelling headphones!! Also use it in my car (interface is standard), and also on my boat (I had to just buy a cheap $4 cable from the local electronics shop to do this). So as you can see, gets plenty of use!!

BTW - I like your choice of music St.Louis Dave..!

Wow! Dave that is quite a list! I have alot of those on my player also! I am amazed at the variety of music any individual will listen to.... I like most music except most rap and the Celine, Whitney, Britney, Christina group of girls and the high pitched "guys"....

I need to start buying some music again I have not bought a new CD in I would be willing to bet ten years....But I only want more of the classic stuff so I will have to start looking at garage sales, flea markets and used CD places...

Oh wait I did buy Going South 1 and 2 a few years back and some other compilation disk now that I think of it but no more than ten in the last ten.

I am amazed at how many albums I can get on my 4 GB Sony... But an 80 GB that's awesome!

I want to do the Hard Core Gangsta Rap thing but I can't seem to make the 24"s with spinners to fit on the trailer. That & the hydraulic suspension keeps bouncin the boat off yo . . .
I have my suspicions that the admiral would not object to taking me skiing or boardin if I was willing to wear the grilles and giant rope chains . . . schinizzle . . . word
