What all have you done to make your FW trailer better?

Replaced all the lights with LED's and am installing Boat Buckles now. On the LED's, I found a source that has direct replacements so no new holes had to be drilled, etc.

There is a six page thread on this subject titled FW Winns trailers that was around last fall in Trailer and Towing. Do a search. I don't know how to post a link. Sorry.

I'll be building side guide-on bunks ... to imitate the stock ones that were on the trailer for the 245 Sundowner.

OK, so it's the holiday weekend and all you guys are out boating anyway so who cares if I make long posts  .

The other night I was working on my Boat Buckle install, and thought it would be a good time to take a few pics of the LED trailer lights I went with last year. Of course it's hard to take decent pics of something like this at night, but I used several different exposures to try to give you an idea. All you guys who already have LED's on your new trailers, move along, there's nothing to see here.

I just got done fabricating (well this spring) and installing my hitch for pulling our jet skis behind. 8) Maybe not make the trailer better, but sure makes trip to powell better!

I don't have any finished photos, but heres one from the middle of the project. It is a horse shoes shaped reciever that goes around the out drive. Had one on our last boat (245 sundowner) works very well. :P :D

Powell,

Is that even legal?

Interesting for sure, but didn't think double towing was legal on boat trailers in most states.

Added reflective strips down the side and at the back (something I do on every boat trailer I've owned)

Image
Added 9600lb tensile safety chain/clevis/hook and added a PowerWinch RC30 11,500lb capacity power in/frespool out, remote control winch

Image
Picked this up at West Marine when I was on vaca last week. I am going to have to do some modifications to the trailer to get it on there.. but it should be worth it to get rid of the POS that is on there now.

 I'm planning on adding a step to get onto the bow. Currently, my spare tire is mounted just ahead of the winch so I step up on that, then onto the bow. Problem is, when I back the trailer into or pull out of my barn, the tire scrapes the edge of the concrete floor. I'll be moving the spare tire bracket back where it belongs, but I'll need a replacement step. I'll post some pics when I can.

Got rid of the stupid adhesive clips holding the brake line along the rear axle. These are Adel clamps (everyone's seen them but nobody knows what they're called :) ).
