The PerfectPass system now uses GPS to measure speed. No more paddle wheel installation, which (probably like a lot you) is the reason I haven't purchased it in the past.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this yet? I spoke to their support person and they told me the install on my boat would be about 1-2 hours. Definitely appealing!

I, too, haven't bought the PP since I didn't want to drill into the boat. Now I'm interested!

Does it work with all powertrains? Can I use it for VP?

My wife is having a hell of a time keeping the boat at the proper speed when I ski, and I have a tough time keeping it at speed when pulling a wakeboarder... I never thought it would be so touchy.

I've used it in an X-80 its nice and simply to use. Even can be adjusted to feel for turns.

How much did it cost? I would want it installed by a dealer or other professional. I have an H240 with 5.7 Volvo DP.

My friend upgraded his Ski Nautique to the star gazer and it works well. I have read on a few other boards mostly good things about them. The only bad I heard was about running in a river with current, but different people had different opinions on that. Anyway I ordered one a couple days ago so hopefully by the weekend I will have it installed.

I didn't even think about the current! I board on the Willamette River here in Portland, and there is a pretty good current. I guess that if speed is measured by GPS and not water speed then speed would be a little fast when going upriver, and a little slow when going downriver. I bet it would be easy to resolve by just setting two different speeds into the unit. Would be nice if you could have the speed automatically adjust based on compass setting. :)

Mine came Friday and it took about 2 hours that evening to get it installed. First impressions are it’s great for wakeboarding. I’ve been out a couple times in between rains and it works as advertised. Nice smooth pull. Makes driving really easy. :D

How much did you end up spending on it?

When you say it's great for wakeboarding, are you implying it wouldn't be good for other stuff like slalom?

Does anyone know where we can get a better price on this? Maybe we could do a group buy?

No, just that I have only used it for wakeboarding, so I didn’t want to imply it was the best thing ever.

There are some differences between the full blown PP and the wakeboard edition. I don’t have my manual in front of me now so I can’t say exactly what they are.

Anyone who has installed this care to take some pictures and do a short write up about the installation?
