Hi everyone bought my new 08 h220ss about a month ago and love it! Its red with an arch pretty much loaded up. 350 mag 300 hp bravo 1

A few question though
1 I have found a lot of lose bolts and screws is this normal? only 22hrs on it..

2 is there any way to stop the rattle from the arch (everything is tight) dealer said its normal

3 where does everyone mount there 2-way vhf and antena?

thanks!
Bill

We don't believe any of it here unless you post pictures of it  .

Congratulations! Yes, all the loose screws are normal. Not welcome, but normal. At about the point where your boat is in time, you should go around and tighten everything. The windshield mounting screws (I put a dab of silicone on my threads there), all hose clamps in the engine compartment (you may be shocked at how loose some of them are now), check the seat pedestal bases... about the only thing that didn't loosen up on mine was the rub rail.

The rattles in the arch are a common problem. I'd never call them normal, but you're probably in the majority.

Where do you live and boat? How long have you boated?

Welcome!

Thanks for the fast reply

I live just out side of Chicago I spend a lot of time at the small lakes in the area, but go to lake Michigan when the weather is nice!

I boated a lot as a kid but this is the first boat I have owned, but we have always been a four winns family

Welcome!

If the arch is a tubular stainless one and FW haven't changed the design philosophy of such arches (Bimini frames) since 2004, then it's probably the same as mine was: the rattling (plus rocking from side to side!) was cumulative play resulting from the way the tubes were a sloppy fit in the end connectors plus poorly set rivets, meaning the end fittings were not pulled up tight against the tubes. It might be "normal" the way they make them, but it doesn't have to be that way! I posted a message about how I rectified mine, I can't remember the title or whether it was just posted on here, or Boating ABC as well.

I basically dismantled all the end fittings, took up the clearance between the fitting bores and the tubes with a 2 component toughened structural adhesive and once that was cured, set new stainless rivets properly. In some cases I had to drill new holes in the tubes or end fittings, because the old ones were too elongated. It made an absolutely enormous difference to the rigidity of the structure, the only slop now is where the rear feet clip into the fitting on the hull which I can't do anything about due to thir design. That is very slight though. My only worry was that once all the slop had been taken out, it wouldn't fit the boat anymore; thankfully that wasn't the case.

The forward facing arch should NOT rattle!! Mine had a rattle and I took it to the dealer and they told me the same thing. I went home and took one bolt out at a time, covered it in locktite and reinstalled it with a breaker bar. Did all 4 and 25 hours later still no rattles. I'd give it a shot.

My S.S. Arch/Bimini Top also ratteled, but mine was the top shaking. Cured with small loop& ball bungee around the front top support post and front arch loop at the center of 90%bend. Look closely and you can see where the canvas boot is gathered. Hope your as lucky as I was on this issue.

Something that has come loose on my during its third summer are the cleat nuts! They good size and hard to reach in some places but I found one in my ski locker and noticed a transom one working off. They have 2 washers in case you have one come loose. Check those too. Heck, I even had the studs holding my brake calipers on come loose but thats another story.

Not photoshopped, he's (Tube-n Scotty) wondering why I'm walking around the boat and not hooking it up. He's loves boating.
