For the record we WERE going to get on the boat tomorrow. In the last 24 hours the forecast for our lake has gone from a 30% chance of rain late in the day to a 90% chance of rain, probably at least an inch, starting earlier in the day.

This is how this whole friggin' summer has gone.

Sorry if I sound unsympathetic but you're breaking my heart. Hasn't stopped raining here in 3 f*n weeks! I have probably close to 8k in floating dock materials piled in my yard that I am waiting for suitable weather to build and the contractor that had agreed to replace the crib wharf it was to attach to says the water level is now too high to do.
On the up side I have a beautiful driveway adornment  This summer has been a total write off piece of Cr@p!

Same here in the UK :( One guy in my marina who is retired so goes out any chance he gets, went out 70 times last year (which was a bad year) this year he's been out 7 times so far. We have gone from having four distinct seasons, we now have two, a cold and a wet.

Not to brag..... But we are finally going to have a nice day so we CAN go boating!!!!

This weekend is the 1000 Islands Poker Run which is hailed to be the largest in North America so I am very excited to get out there and watch the speed demons fly by. I took some photos of the boats on their trailers and at the docks last night so I will start a thread and post a bunch tommorrow. It's 6:30 am and I have been up since 5:15 just waiting for the rest of the crew to get up and ready! the boat is uncovered, the oil was checked all before 6! WE ARE READY TO GO!!!! I am so stoked we are finally going to have a nice day to use the boat.

P.S. I am going to try and hook up with Flying Sushi so we may have pictures of that also.

Have a nice day guys (I know I will be)

BTW, we are expected the next week to be rainy and miserable which has been typical for this summer also around here.

So what does the weather have to do with sitting in the boat in the drive way?

I sympathize, I really do. Down here in south Texas - we need rain. Lake is very low and ramps are being closed. Add to that, we've had constant 12-20 mph winds for the entire summer. A little too breezy for my tastes. I hear you guys and I know this doesn't buy us any sympathy, but we've been disappointed in this summer, too. Seems like I need to make a road trip to DFW or Houston.

Now hurricane season is ramping up and we might have a shot at some rain. I miss the green grass we had back in Houston. Everything is dried up and crunchy. (there's a joke there, but I'm not touchin' it!) :D

Mike there's always tommarow. We were all ready to go this morning till the radar showed rain 10 miles away and headed for us and the lake. I put the boat back in the storage unit and as luck whould have it Smithville hasn't got a drop of rain all day. It's been very cloudy though if that's any consolation. :(

A rain day is upsetting you?? We have had smoke from the California forest fires for about a month. Took the boat to Lake Tahoe and could not see even one mile in the distance. Kept the boat on the trailer and went home.

Just got home from the lake about 15 min ago. dodged showers until about 4:00 then pulled the kids on the tube until around 7:30. Put the boat in the shop around 10:15.

Just thought I would rub it in.

No. A rain day every day this season when we would otherwise have been able to go is upsetting me.

Ok Mike, I gotta lay it on. Your just going to have to try harder. The new 224 has been around for 6 weeks and we've been on it 5 out of the 6 weekends. 38 hours on the motor, a little over 110 hours on the hull, and the trash can has seen about 250 beer cans. Don't get me wrong, two of those weekends on Perry were spent tied to other boats and in the water because it was to hot to sit in the boat but that would account for the hull hours.

Yeah, I know. There are things going on that go beyond what I can post. Suffice to say, it's been a very frustrating season. I really need to get the boat put on a lift someplace so there isn't so much "overhead time" involved in making a trip.

Having teenagers can severely cramp boating plans.

I understand, with just the one little guy he goes where we do. He fell asleep last week in my lap with his head on the steering wheel. Wouldn't give up the help but would sleep on it go figure.

I don't know what slips are east of KC but checked into Perry and your going to pay 2400 to 2800 bucks out there, which for what you said you pay in storage might just be worth it. Also know a privately owned slip at Perry that is for sale $3500, needs some work though.
