Yeah, but that wax is really good. I can't believe how it's holding up.

You guys are hilarious.

Actually I think the plan was to wax that weekend, and be on the water all of the next 3 weekends, then home for one, then on the boat again for 2 or 3 after that. Then the rain started. We haven't had time to travel with the boat this season, so if the weather's bad at Perry we're sunk. And you know what that means this year.

So, Mike it sounds like you don't even think about going to Smithville Lake. Is Perry that much better that it would be worth going there instead? It's been 20 years or better since I've been up there. We are headed to Table Rock Sat. for the week. If the weather forcast are right we may be one of the only ones on the lake. I wonder how my motorcycle rain suite will hold up wakeboarding.

You're right Mike, we've never been to Smithville. I figure if Perry's rained out Smithville probably is too, although that might not always be true. We've talked about checking it out, just haven't gotten around to it. Perry better? No idea - the water certainly isn't clearer  .

Someday when the kids are gone, we're gonna just go and LIVE on the boat ;) . I'm having major withdrawal for Table Rock. This is the first year in the last 5 we haven't done a spare-no-expense week-long trip there.

A lake within an hour??? I'd say there are about 4 lakes within 20 minutes of Mike's house..... and it will be nice this weekend! Good weekend to wax the boat and wonder what next season will be like!

The weather report has just changed. Chance of rain dropped from 50% to 10-20% and saying they would bet on a dry weekend in the 80's at Perry. Probably won't make it out tonight but will spend a good 8 hours tommorrow and another 8 on Sunday.

Mike.........need directions?

Well, I did summerize and got out once, so...

The good news is, someday I'll have a 10 year old boat with 75 hours on it.

I thought I felt bad about going on 2 weeks without being on the boat. At least it's not 3 months! Come on Mike. BURN SOME GAS!

How about this. Our family boated up the Columbia River one evening and had dinner on a sandbar. We came back that night at about 10:00 under a full moon which made the river islands very easy to see. So I am running at about 27 mph using a chart and the depth sounder to stay within a 1/4 mile wide channel. I see a strange white disturbance in the water about 100 ft ahead and steer to the left to avoid it. As we continue, I see that I am slowly passing a water skier. The boat ahead had no navigation lights, the skier had no lights. I went wide to the left wanting these idiots behind me instead ahead of me. I think they were so partied up that they never knew I was there even though I had my navigation lights on. The ski boat never changed course to pull their skier away from me as I approached.

I assume that if I had run over their skier or they stopped and were retrieving the skier and I hit their boat they would have blamed me. Even a flashlight signal would have helped warn me that there was a boat directly ahead.

Skiing at night -10 IQ points
Skiing at night without any lights on the ski boat or skier - 20 IQ points
Not maneuvering your boat to keep your skier safe from overtaking traffic - 30 IQ points.

So how do you find a fallen skier in the water at night without any sort of light?

Hey mike, all this talk of wax reminded me of a question.

I read in other posts you are a fan of the Meguires Premium Wax.

I haven't used that before...first do you feel thats the best out there for a black boat.

second and more important, am I safe to use it and then put the boat in the water or is it just the top driveway wax?

hardy har har Marc...

I think Maguiar's is terrific for any color boat. But - I'll say this also, Capn Morgan has become a great fan of a 3M wax over the Maguiar's and I hold his opinions in very high regard. You might do a search for that, he posted about it somewhere on this board not long ago.

I used the 3M on my garaged Sea Ray, and now on my stored outside, under the sun, FW. I'll be bringing it by the house this weekend to wash it since we won't be using it this weekend, and will report how its holding up.
