Thats alright Mike I feel your pain i too will have a 10 year old boat with 75 hours. Mine has only seen the water 3 times this year its very depressing. but we are taking a long weekend trip to Nh at the end of the month so that will be good.

As far as stupid things i've seen this year none but a few years ago i saw a woman backing her husband down a steep ramp, with his winch unhooked, as he started to go crooked she yeld stop, he slammed on the brakes but the boat kept going right onto the ramp ouch that pretty much ended their day

Hey Mike...
I got all the way to the lake today and realized I forgot the boat! I won't make the same mistake tommorow!

Similar to the above tale, about 5 years ago I saw a husband and wife boater duo at the ramp. First thing... Brand New boat, about 26' cruiser, tow vehical is an S-10 Blazer.... Just a little under powered for the task. My friends and I stick around to watch them try to get this behemouth out of the water. She backs the trailer in well, the husband has handling difficulties with the boat, and manages to get the boat first sideways on top of the trailer fenders  , then completely backwards on the trailer  . He finally gets the boat back off, and straightened out and keeps telling her to back in further. By the time he finally gets it, she has the FRONT WHEELS of the car in the water and she yells "It's making wierd noises". Though they eventually got it done, I don't imagine they took that boat out too many times... with that car anyway.

OK, I had to go boating today just to get you guys off my back. It was a beautiful day for boating, ending with a nice long run on glass just before sunset. The boys tubed and we all swam awhile. Dinner at Steak N' Shake afterward. A good day.

'Course, I didn't get any pics so now I'll get a bunch of crap about that I guess.

Oh yeah - if you don't have a spare boat key someplace, get one. For the first time ever, I forgot the boat bag today with the key in it. Didn't realize it until we were almost to the ramp. I have a spare on my regular key ring.

Well Done Mike... We're proud of you. Hopefully we can get you out a few more times this year! That wasn't at Smithville was it? I thought I saw a similar boat, but decided that wasn't yours anyway.

As far as the key thing, I only give Mike230 a +1. I've done that, so I keep a spare boat key on my car key chain as well. However, I also keep a spare car key on my boat key chain. I've noticed my car keys get misplaced more often while boating/camping (and found when un-packing) than ever forgeting the boat keys at home.

Only 4 outings so far this year for us, one of those was the day I launched it at the marina back in May, 7 engine hours. It's a public holiday here next Monday, the weather is settling down a little during this week, we're going down to the coast on Friday evening, but weather changes are promised early on Saturday (guess what, not for the better!).

As well as a spare key, it's worth having a spare kill cord as well ( I don't know why boats don't come with two in any case, as in the case of ignition keys). If you fall overboard whilst driving the boat and take the kill cord with you ( if it's attached to you, as it should be!), whoever is left in the boat can't easily get the motor running to go back and pick you up without a the spare kill cord.

Good point Graham, of course if I fall overboard my 224 I have bigger issues to deal with.

I guess we've had a pretty blessed year. We have spent probably all but three weekends on the lake and have had weather that has cooperated. The new boat has 40 hours on it already but that represents about 1/5th the time we have floated. It was another great weekend this week as we spent both Saturday and Sunday out there. I'm already started to dread winter.

The extra key is a great idea, I actually went a step further. As the boat at the moment is at my house or in a shop the main key always stays with the boat, if they can get the log chain and locks off of it then I'm sure they can find a way to start it. My concern has always been the boy (2 1/2 years) playing around and throwing it overboard. Now it's attached to a floaty but just incase I have my spare key stashed on board in a hidey hole just in case.

Mike, glad you made it out.......not that I saw you out there or anything........so without pictures..............nevermind....I'm glad you had fun.

Mike, glad to hear you had a good day on the lake! It's not the quantity, it's the quality, right? :D

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Also, I like the new sig photo.

Thanks Brian!

+1 on the spare kill cord. I got one from the dealer at delivery time.
