I am curious is it law in the USA for dogs to be wearing life jackets while on board .We own a 6 year old Labrador cross Golden Retriever who is by nature of her bread an excellent swimmer. BTW it is not law here in Oz for them to be wearing one
Just curious

That would be a state by state thing, but to my knowledge no states have such a law. I could be wrong.

I just bought jackets for the dogs, but they are not required around here.

The water patrol in Missouri has police dogs on many of their boats and they never have a vest on. Mater of fact our schnauzer w/o his jacket on put the police dog on notice as we passed each other at the ramps the weekend before last. Tuben-Scotty always wears one when he's doing his water-sports though.

Yeah, you could almost hear it saying, "Hey - what's all this wet stuff I'm sitting in?"

No specific law here ... however, regardless of how strong a swimmer the dog is, it's always wise to have a flotation device on. You never know what can happen.
