+1 to all the above checks. One other is checking the vent on the fuel tank. If you get it out and running, you can check by pulling the gas cap. If it feels like it was drawing a vacuum, that would show it! Just info from another post I read on here. Again, check/do the easy stuff first. Deal with the carb last. I would also run some carb/fuel sys cleaner through before the end of the season as well.

Sorry it took so long to reply - hopefully by now you found your problem, but if you have a check-valve, it should be the type that is the fitting on the tank that the rubber fuel line is attached to. If you have a plastic tank, you might not have a check-valve or it might be inline somewhere.
