I have a new 2008 H200 with a Merc 220hp sterndrive.

What prop would be best for this boat in order to achieve decent holeshot without sacrificing too much top end? I am coming from a bayliner 175xt, 3.0L 135hp with a high five 19p. With that prop I got a great hole shot, and top end of 37mph.

I was thinking of the 21p high-five, but the five blade area sacrifices a bit of top end and I was wondering if a guy should look at a four blade prop?

I was hoping to get a top end of about 50mph.

What do most of you H200-H220 owners use?

Haven't been in the water with her yet... just got her, so I don't know what the factory prop will do.

Thanks!

Welcome.
I say good luck on your endeavor. I'm running a 320 hp on a H210 and getting 52mph at WOT RPM running either the 19p that came with it, or my "spare" 21p SS. Try this website on for size....

Thanks for the reply... I realize I probably won't actually reach 50mph, but want to get as close as possible.

How come you are using the 21p SS as a spare? Do you get better top end with the 21p?

Mine comes with a alum 21p 3 blade. Thinking of the high five 21p....

I run a 19 pitch high five on my 220hp volvo. It will run mid 40's on the GPS. Pulls great.

I run the stock 14.75 X 19P stainless blade on my '07 220 with a Volvo 5.7Gi 280HP SX drive and I see 50.5-51mph on GPS trimmed out @ 4700 rpm.

I tried an aluminum Turning Point 14.25 X 21P and it ran the same rpm but 3 mph slower. The stock Volvo props are pretty efficient from my experience and they are matched for their boats reasonably well right from the factory.

Good luck on your quest. The best way is to find a dealer who will let you try before you buy so it doesn't cost a bundle in extra hardware.

I ran both and ended with the same top end by GPS, just different RPM, and a better hole-shot with the 19p. Apperently 52mph is the terminal velocity for my boat.

I'd at least run her with the factory setup once before you start even thinking about a new prop. Believe it or not FW did its homework on which prop would be best out of the factory. First question is your stock prop SS?

The stock prop is a 3 blade merc alum. I was going to run it with the stock but then had thoughts of 'what if I am disappointed after being spoiled running the high five SS on my previous boat?'. Nothing like shelling out 30k and then first impression is bad... :(

So I think I am going to get the high five 21p SS as my main and use the alum as the spare.

Does anyone else have any experience with the high five 21p ?

I have a 06 H200 220 hp Merc it had a 21p 3 blade on it and would only rev 4000 rpm at wot (should be 4400-4800) (we are @ 3400 ft of elev) 40 mph tops. I just changed to a 19 p 4 blade and it is like a different boat it will stay on plane with the kids wake boarding at 16 -18 mph now with ease were before there was no way it would. I haven't check the top end as I am not to concerned with that but I can and get back to you after the week end if you like.

Hi all,

I have a '07 H190 running the Merc 220HP MPI engine currently with the standard 21P 3 blade ally prop, however I find it hard work when wakeboarding as at 20mph the boat is coming on and off the plane requiring much throttle manipulation! I'm in the market now for a new SS prop with better low speed performance but am not sure regarding the 3 blade vs. 4 blade option not to mention (more importantly) the best pitch. A local boat dealer has suggested a 17P Vensura 4 blade prop however I get the feeling this may sacrifice too much top end. The 19P option may be better, has anyone experience with the Vensura prop and/or different pitched props on this model?

Will appreciate any advice!

I tried a Volvo 14" x 21" 4 blade on mine - got out the hole great, but lost about 12 mph... :( So swapped back to the Volvo 14.25 x 23 3 blade - seems like a good compromise prop and obviously well sorted by FW for the boat. No probs hauling up big skiiers, wakeboarders etc. Bottom line is there is no simple answer, just some expensive trial and error! (Anyone want to buy a 14" x 21" 4 blade to suit SX drive - only used once..??? )

I guess just to add my results, I run a 22" 4 blade Comprop right now. At WOT I'm running about 4600 and making 49 on the speedo, which, according to GPS is about 2 MPH higher than actual, so, 47. With the stock 23" 3 blade aluminum I make 49 GPS at 4400~.

The boat will do 50 I'm sure, however the only prop that will get me there will be a good stainless, most likely a 21" Enertia. That's my dream prop, but, up here in Ontario my local marina will want over $1000 for it. That's a lot for a hunch, and an extra MPH or two. I would like the faster holeshot, but, my $50 glass reinforced nylon propeller does just fine.

Hey Firefly

Not sure what the current fx rate is between the Canadian dollar and the greenback (wasn't it almost dollar for dollar recently?), but you can pick up "new in the box" Enertia props on eBay for about $450. To be honest I really like the look of the Enertia props myself but will most likely end up getting a four blade Vensura which is a little cheaper and maybe a better bet for towing wakeboarders.

My 08 210 ss has the stock 21 pitch 4 blade ss prop that came with it. Just spent 10 days on a big lake in Ontario and was running 54-56 mph top end with 2 adults and 1/2 tank of gas. Great hole shot even loaded with 6 adults and 4 kids. Top end with that load was about 50. Love this boat so far!!
