I'm not so sure on the pastels, especially the blue.

Shouldn't the trailer & canvas be the same pastel blue?

You got it Cap'n, that's identical to the one on my dealers lot.

Sorry guys, I didn't get down by the dealer yesterday for the pic of the 222. I'll try again within the next few days.

I'd have to see it in person first for an opinion, but I do like the fact that they are trying to come up with a distinctive design. It does stand out and is instantly recognisable as different. Two things, they call this a 222 and does that include the length of the swim platform? If so it seems to have less room inside than my old 88 200 which is 20'9" but with a small integrated swim platform. And the other, the backyard/driveway mechanic in me wants to see the engine access. I have seen some of these designs with the transom walkway and it really cramps the space in the engine room. One thing I like about my old 88 is there is no molded in fiberglass around the engine, you can slide the rear seats foward and the engine is wide open. The engine access on modern FWs is not great until you get up to the 220/ 230/240 size. I/Os are by their nature maintenance intensive. Why not make it easier?

Windshield Wipers?? Hope thats just an option. Not a fan of the pastels either. The driver and passenger seats look like the backs of them fold forward to create additional cockpit seating. All in all, I personally wouldnt buy it but I could see it appealing to quite a few ppl...that is if FW/Boat Dealers can survive this economy

Here is one in Navy w/red boot stripe. The seats do flip back and forth and have bolsters.

Hello everyone:

I just found this forum, and I appreciate all the great info.

I'm posting here because I bought a 2008 SL262 this summer and I love it. We looked at the 242 at a boat show and it was nice, but for the slight premium in price I like all the extra room. Ours is black with the red stripe along the bottom that continues onto the swim platform. This sucker is totally loaded - captain's call, GPS, ultimate stereo, SS wakeboard tower, 8.1L Volvo - it's a sweet boat. I think the 222 would be too small for what we wanted.

I'll be honest - it's probably too big for me to trailer comfortably for long distances, and I probably spent more than I wanted, but it was definitely the best value of all the boats we considered, including Cobalt, Regal, and Crownline.

And yes, the actual length is 24 ft + the swim platform to come up with the 262 designation. Wipers are an option we don't have and I'd never need. The engine access is plenty roomy for those who like to do some of their own work (not me).

Can't say I care for the pastels at all. I love the look of ours with the red setting off the black - seems very classic to me. I think the lines from 3/4 angle when in the water are unbeatable.

I'll post some pics when I take some interesting ones - right now all I have are some boring pics from delivery.

Thanks!

Todd

I'm with your wife on this one. I don't like the looks of the SL series, and the graphics....

Thanks - I'm in Flower Mound, just outside Dallas.

I'll post some pics soon - I'm surprised some people don't like the SL look, but to each his own. The designer is from Cobalt, and most people usually like those boats. :) Once you're on the boat and feel how comfortable it is, I think you might change your mind. I have younger kids and the room is great. I don't care for the graphics package though.

I'm in the process of adding some audio components - then I'll snap some pics.

What are they thinking with that graphics package?

They are taking a classy boat and making into a "weirdo mobile". You know the one.... every town has some wacko that has either bumper stickers, wacky paint or troll dolls all over it's surface. I think they are putting a few f these out on the market so people will hate them and buy the pastel colours because they have committed to making to many of those less "ugly" ones.

I'm not a fan of the graphics package either, but I think they are just trying to further their way into the I/O Wakeboard boat market like Chapparal, Yamaha, etc. All the new wakeboard boats are coming with graphics packages like these as well as big stereo upgrade options like FW has started. BTW, the 4 wetsounds tower speakers they are using for their upgrade are sick!! Those are some of the best quality/highest end tower speakers you can get...great choice FW made using those.

I am no too crazy about this Yo-Yo graphics so I would stick with Classic Color band.
I have one comment on SL…. I would like to see docking light on both side of hull and not on split chins. I think it look much better…. (or not). Still I like SLs and it`s details and ride and seriously consider as our next boat when the time comes.

Leftlane:
Welcome aboard to this forum. There are not many SL owners around this forum yet so you are very welcome member. Did you pick up your boat from local dealer in your area or somewhere else? Would you mind to share your purchasing experience with us? I am curious how dealer marketed this new boat for you and the delivery and SL met your expectation. I

LeftLane,
Welcome and I can't wait to see pics of your boat. I personally love the look of the SL series.
Where do you boat? We live in Haslet and boat at Eagle Mountain. Next year we are planning a trip to lake Texoma.

Hmmm.....my "ultimate stereo upgrade", which stickered for around $1900, doesn't include Wetsounds speakers - it's a Sony head unit and speakers, with Kicker amps and sub. Maybe the newest of the new "wakeboard" version has Wetsounds now. I know the Chaparral Sunesta Extreme is similar, going after that demographic.

We bought from Phil Dill in Lewisville - I would absolutely recommend them with no hesitation. Sales experience was great, and my limited exposure to service has been fantastic. BTW - my neighbor and I bought essentially the same boat from the same salesman a few months apart - he was so happy with his that I didn't think I could go wrong.

We're on Lake Lewisville for now - I'd like to find a place an hour or so away to really relax and get off my Blackberry.
