Well my wife decided that it was time to crawl under the stairs of our 2008 v358 and figure out how to change the bag on the central vac.

There's a little door there, and when you open it you can see the end of the red Dirt Devil. She pulled off the end cap, reached in the vac and found a bunch of dirt, a bag of three vac bags, and a bag with directions and mounting hardware. All summer we've been vacuuming with no bag!

Obviously we felt a little silly. The worst part is we really needed a vac to clean up the big mess we made with the vac. So we cleaned out as much as we could, installed a bag, and used the vac to clean up the mess in there.

While we were I tried to take the vent filter and clean it, it looks like the whole panel needs to come off, not just the louvered panel.

No, the louvered panel comes of pretty readily if you slide it up a tad and then pull it out. The filter screen is right there. No screwing needed!

Just returned from the boat. No, no one installs the vacuum bag for you when the boat is new. A bit of a mess but nothing that couldn't be cleaned out and vacuumed up with a newly installed bag (yes, they were in a package in the canister). And it works better than ever!
