Its not brand that does it. Its placement of the pick-up and sheer luck. If the pick up is 1/4 inch too high it will read false. If the pick-up hose is kinked or looped it can throw the gauge off. Water density can also have an impact. I ran a wheel on my Scarab it was better, but now that GPS is the norm, pick=ups and wheels are just in the boat for giggles.

By speedo, my top speed is about 53-55 if I recall correctly. Never checked it with GPS though.
