I saw the new V 408 today and was totally disappointed. It has numerous design problems.

1. Poorly designed and unimpressive helm.
2. You have to be sitting to use the washer/dryer.
3. There is not a single usable closet.
4. Coffee maker is low.
5. Cabin TV is not viewable from any sitting position.
6. Very overpriced.

This boat was not designed for a boater that is actually going to use it. I hope that this was an early prototype and there are significant changes coming before actual production.
The V358 is a much nicer boat and functional boat for a lot less money.

What was the price...and with what options? Was price listed as a "show special".

Been waiting awhile to hear / see about this boat, very dissapointed with your initial thoughts. Maybe just like you are saying, needed a prototype for the show so cobbed toghether an interior with fixes to come...hope so.

Sorry no pics. Camera was elsewhere.

List Price $750K (approx)
show disc $74K

Other boats had 20% +/- discounts.

At this price the V358 was a real value and a much nicer boat.

Wow that is really high. The 2008 458 has and MSRP of 770k. I was guessing the 408 would fall somewhere b/w the 458 and 378, guess not.

Boy, I'll agree that that pricing sure seems out of line ......

I have always liked Four Winns for various reasons. However, they are certainly not the only fish in the pond, especially in that price range!

Well, without any visuals to really look at yet, it's hard to pass judgement on this new model at this juncture.

For reference, the new Chaparral 400 Sport Cruiser introduced a few months ago, which will be a direct comptitor with the V408, is priced about the same MSRP as what has been reported in this thread. Sea Ray in a comparable size is right there also. So based on that, as high as the price seems, it is competitive with the competition.
I have some inquiries out about the V408 with a few sources, and hopefully I can get some more specific info and some pics so the boat can be judged more objectively. Stay tuned.

Well, still no luck after scouring the web for pictures of the V408 from Fort Lauderdale, but I did find this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nXbE3tVJbE

Don't get too excited. How they didn't post more footage of the boat is beyond me.

Umm yeah ...... It would be reasonable to assume that I am not only out of touch on the price or 40' cruisers, but that I'm not the target consumer either ...........

New to the forum but, not to boating. I am surprised at the negative reaction. I was at the show and viewed several boats in this range. Sure there is always sticker shock but, I also like the new trend and features. The 358 was a step in the right direction when it relaesed, followed by 318 & 338. Heard lots of postive comments while in the 408 and while on board competitive product. Hope to see the photos on the the website soon. Is it summer yet??

I have some photo shoot pictures of the 408. The boat at the FL show was optioned out with every option available, thus the price on the boat.

I will post some pics shortly when I get them all re-sized. 8)

Absolutely agree...that boat looks stunning. The retractable roof in the video is a new twist, and it looked like it had a walk through also. Looking forward to more pics...

The retractable roof has been very popular for several years in Europe. Sealine offers it on 3 or 4 of their cruisers. It is a nice touch indeed on the V408 to have the option of the roof open or closed, and the walk through is huge !
