I am trying to find the part No. for spark plugs for my 1998 5.0Gi engine. Looking through the history invoices from previous owners, different plugs have been used ie. VP 3851858 and LUBPR5EFS.
My manual says see OMC dealer, an online manual I've found says either VP3851831 or Champion RS12YC.

A recent post by Jay Bird on another thread says part numbers can be found at http://www.volvopentastore.com unfortunately the site won't give me access as I'm from the UK. Would anybody from the US care to look for me to see what part number they say.
I would look to see what is fitted at the moment but I'm over a hundred miles from the boat, and would like to change them on my next visit.

Spark Plugs: Volvo 3851857
Champion RS12YC
NGK BPR6EFS
Autolite AP104
Bosh B4458

I had a 1999 VP 5.7GSi. I bought a VP badged set of plugs ( 2 x 4 plugs). Inside the VP boxes, the plugs were Champion RS12YC.

I only found it after I had bought the VP plugs (at a higher price of course!).

I once managed to access the http://www.volvopentastore.com/ site when I was in the US; I was amazed at the pre-tax list prices compared to the UK pre tax-prices. Clearly the reason they don't want anyone from outside the US to access it is to protect the much higher prices they and their dealers have in other countries!

I have always refrained from purchasing Volvo plugs for my marine engine. It's a GM block in many of the models, or a Ford block, not Volvo. Go to your local NAPA store, and give them the engine year and model number, they have a marine cross reference to the correct parts.
Much cheaper, and have always worked as they should. I bought , plugs, wires, cap , oil and filters at Napa. Much easier than trying to source Volvo components.

First time boat spark plug changer here and probably a stupid question, but do the Champion plugs come properly gapped or do I need to do that myself? In the past, whenever I changed out spark plugs on my old truck or lawnmower, I have always just put the plugs in as-is and never worried about it. Do you have to worry about gapping with a boat or just put the plugs in as-is? Thanks.

I would never assume the gap is right, on any plug.

I always check gap on any spark plugs just to be sure they are what they should be. This may a bit compulsive but in my years of checking I have found some out of spec.
