A holiday thread... who has boating-related christmas treats on the way?

What sort of off season projects are people getting serious about? Last year, it seemed many of us were all over the stereos. Is anyone taking on any big projects?

Anyone got some sweet bling for the boat on the way for the holidays?

As an in-process owner of a 318 - you can bet my list is growing...

I have to get serious about stuff like:
- New fenders & fender covers
- Nav chip
- All the stuff needed for outfitting a new boat -- safety gear, etc...

Projects... still very TBD, but in an ideal world I'd be working on:
- Upgrade the c80 to e80
- underwater lights
- some sort of fuel flow integration with the Volvo EVC motors
- Putting in a little bazooka tube to round out the sound inside the cabin
- Tweaking the heck out of as much as possible

What else are you all planning? Who's buying a new boat? Downsizing? Projects?

The only project I have is installing the underwater lights, but that is not till spring. Although, after looking at the 288's I might start scanning the internet to see what deals are out there for a bigger boat. :)

Scott

p.s. Oh yeah, I am keeping a constant eye on the gas prices, just to see how to plan for next summer. Well we be staying close or travel some in the Chesapeake Bay?

p.s.s. Our big Christmas present is the Honda Generator... But I'd imagine with your new boat you don't have to worry about that. How nice will it be to wake up after a night on the hook and have that first morning coffee while you watch the sun come up?

Mine is fairly mild. I am going to make a new aft cockpit table with cup holders that I can use to replace what the two tables I have now do. I am tired of carrying two tables.

In the spring I am finally going to install the interface adapter for the Ipod.

That is all I have so far.

Bill

Well, on the boating front:

Would like some fender covers - Protect the gell coat some
Still thinking about improving the stereo
And finish the bloddy house and garage. Getting power run tomorrow to the garage. I'll have lights out there! :)

I think stereo upgrades are always a good idea. :D

Another idea I've been tossing around was installing a transom remote for the stereo -- I don't us "hanging out" on the swim platform all the time, but the convenience is nice...

My only concern... one more thing to get water logged/burn up/and leave me with a big hole in the fiberglass.

Does anyone fine them super useful?

I do, but I hang out on my swim platform or in the water a lot.

cougarcruiser,
I love having the transom remote. I use it all the time. I can't wait until the Ipod interface is hooked up. Then it will actually show the song as well.

It is a great option when you are hanging out.

I promise you this adapter hookup will take all of 3 minutes. Do it now - no more waiting!

diapers, formula, and the college fund? ppspssshhhh - that doesn't sound very fun.

Understandable, but not fun!

Maybe we're too early in the season, but it sure seems like last year there were lots of people starting to collect their toys for the boat projects.

Maybe this economic stuff really is true?

Hey Brett - what kind of TV did you get?

No power needed - it feeds off the stereo. It plugs in to the satellite radio box and gives you full IPod control at both the head unit and the transom remote, including full track info. No more having to mess with the IPod with wet hands once it's hooked up, and it charges it as well!

I stink at any work needing actual ability, and this took me no time at all. It's a great update - it retails for like $80 and I got mine on Ebay for $15 including shipping.

Leftlane, I wish I could, but it is shrinkwraped and I wont have access until spring.
