My treat for boating this Christmas is not directly to my boat but related to our Boating life.... As you all know I am a bowrider guy and owning a Cabin Cruiser is not likely in our future since our cabin is on the land and not on the boat. Our 100+ years old river front summer house is finally going over a complete ground up rebuild and expected to complete by next Memorial Day weekend… Due to this bad economy getting contractors are not problem and the project is in full swing… Only weather is not cooperating with our plan… (we just got a foot of snow there)
This is a Christmas treat we are waiting for a while to enhance our Boating Life…

I'd like to see some pictures of the boating lights mentioned above next spring. My boat is winterized, shrink wrapped, and stored at the Four Winns dealership marina until April 2009.

What i'd really like to do in the spring is upgrade the Clarion stereo, the tower speakers (maybe, depending on how they sound with a new stereo), and install the Perfect Pass GPS speed control (on a 5.7 Volvo). Has anyone done either of these improvements?

Here's a few things from my list:
Upgraded fish finder
LEDs for Trailer
Watersports accessories

Flying Sushi - Quite an ambitious project, wish you luck in having everything completed on time. Please keep us posted on the progress...we don't have much else going on over the winter :D

Hey Brett - what kind of TV did you get?

Cougar,

I picked up a Samsung 67" Phlatlight DLP with a Samsung BD-1500 BluRay player and a nice Bell'o stand for it.

A holiday thread... who has boating-related christmas treats on the way?

If I can't get my Cruisair SMXII keypad to start working with a factory reset, then it looks like I will be getting one of those for Christmas. I would have rather used the $200 for a small flat screen tv in the mid-cabin for the kids.

Well, as much as I would like Santa to bring me some boat stuff.... "She" wouldn't get it right and then I will be stuck with stuff I don't really want! I will get the obligatory socks, underwear and some clothes. She usually surprises me with one nice thing that is well appreciated too. I honestly have not thought much about the boat since I put her in storage November 1. I have been too busy finishing the inside of my garage and getting the new tractor ready to plow snow. If funds were unlimited.... I would like a chartplotter/VHF combination unit for the boat.

I'm considering a Fat-Sac ballast system for boarding. Anyone else have one? Results? Likely will not due to cost and taking up valuable storage space. Thought about perfect pass/stargazer. However, would need to get converted to DTS. Everything else is so expensive, maybe I'll just get the transom mounted stereo remote, and be happy with it!

I typically don't do any "X-mas Mod's". Wait until after the sports/boat show in Jan and Feb, then get started with anything eye catching.

All im doing is a I-pod interface and a new boat cradle. Moving the boat to my in-laws new lake house.

as you'll see from my post in the accessories topics (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2643), I'm gonna tackle an LED lighting job. I'll post pic's of course when it's done.
Additonally, I have the non display transom remote and I like it as well. Always hanging out back there or in the water, it's quite usefull. I may upgrade it this winter, but the one I've seen (a sony) you have to cut a 3 or 4" diameter hole so it will mount flush, the one I have just has a tiny hole in the transom for the wire and two screw holes holding the unit on.

I couldn't wait for Christmas -- the special deal might be over before then. I bought myself an early Christmas gift -- a Standard Horizon CP180i Color GPS Chartplotter for $389.99. Anchor Express is running a "limited time" special. Buy the CP180i and get a free Standard Horizon HX600S handheld 5W VHF radio. I ordered on Sunday and they arrived today.

I hope Santa doesn't hold it against me!

Kevin

Got my kids an Air Head Mega Slice tube http://www.bartswatersports.com/catalog/Tubes_and_Towables/Three_Rider_Tubes/Airhead_Mega_Slice_Towable/index.asp.

As we are coming into summer right now the timing is perfect. Also bought it at the end of the US summer over the web so got a super-good deal. Sometimes this whole northern/southern hemisphere thing can work out really well..

Also got a Pelican tool case to keep my tools and spares in on board. Is totally waterproof and sealed so nothing ever goes rusty.

Does it need power or is it poweredby the stereo?

No power needed - it feeds off the stereo. It plugs in to the satellite radio box and gives you full IPod control at both the head unit and the transom remote, including full track info. No more having to mess with the IPod with wet hands once it's hooked up, and it charges it as well!

I stink at any work needing actual ability, and this took me no time at all. It's a great update - it retails for like $80 and I got mine on Ebay for $15 including shipping.

Being that my head unit is a CMD4 I need the EA1251 so says Clarion
