I'm gonna have to keep my eyes peeled for Cap'n Morgan & Wet Doggg. I'm out of Lake Macatawa and up to Grand Haven & south to Saugatuck frequently. Most weekends are spent anchored at Laketown Beach half way between Holland and Saugatuck. I've always wondered about Mona Lake and whether you could get in there.

Hi Gang,

Another new member, from Charlotte, NC., boating on Lake Norman in Denver, NC. We just bought our first boat...a 1993 Four Winns 190 Horizon. Now the waiting begins!

Thanks!
NCC

Not yet, but it's on the list. What is the course? Do they run from Cheyboygan all the way to Allanson?

I recoginze the lock pix!

They run from the pits in Burt Lake (DeVos Beach) all the way up to downtown Cheboygan and back. It's on a Saturday and Sunday in the middle of August (probably the 15th & 16th this year). I had the name wrong though. They call it Top O' Michigan Boat Races.

Beer-garita...I have been up there to see the races a few times. If it is the same ones you are referring to. A great seat is to tie up on the river. Some of those guys looks like they are going to slam right into your boat.

You can look at us this summer...but you will not find us. Expecting twins in May and I am going to mothball the boat this summer. Capn Morgan and us normally hang out inside the arm outside of Muskegon Lake or just north of those arms on Lake Michigan.

We went into Mona Lake with our cruiser three summers ago...and we were bouncing off the bottom the entire way and and on the way out. Never gave it another shot after that.

I used to live in West Allis and went out on Nagawicka a lot with a friends 18' Larson. Used to have a blast on that lake. Lot of good tie ups happen, but the cost to just launch in the Milw. area was getting out of hand. Used to launch by the Golden Mast and I think then ( 7-8 years ago) it was around $20.00 a day. I only pay that for the whole season up here.

I buy the season pass for $75 for the county park launches, 10 launches usually pays for it which is usually done by the end of June. It's perfect for going out for a couple hours after work an not having to pay launch fees.

The lake is at about 3400 feet. I live about 10 miles from the lake and I am at about 3550 feet. The snow was left over from the storm a week ago that left 6 inches. I went to the lake this morning to see if the ramps were clear of ice as I have to swap my original 1975 Reinell boat I sold off my trailer onto the new owners trailer. It is still iced up, but 57 degree weather predicted for mid week so we will see.

I keep the boat in the driveway at home during the summer (stored inside right now). In the Portland area I generally like to put in near Wilsonville, just south of Portland, onto the Willamette River. I also put in in St Johns right where the Willamette meets the Columbia, and also at 33rd and Columbia Drive, right near the airport, into the Columbia River. The cool thing is that you can put in anywhere and everything pretty much connects, so you can wakeboard right through downtown Portland if you want.
