Hey Guys, Looks like there has been a fair bit happening around the place. I hope the 44 degree heat is driving you all to the water, we are receiving a fair amount of water up here in North Qld, I am in Mackay, and we are getting rain but not the flooding like in Townsville, Innisfail and above. We have been getting rainy days since the Aust day weekend, I have attached some photos of the ordinary weather we received on that weekend. I must say though the water was like glass so there was Back rolls a plenty. I have been doing them for a while now  but not as consistantly as i would like  .

Nice to hear from another Queenslander! I have been feeling a bit lonely after seeing a recent Mustang Boat Owners Day out down here. They sure looked like they were having fun. It is promoted by the Dealer. Does not seem that Four Winns Dealers see much value in this?

Man, if i could put the rain in a back pack i would run down there in bare feet to try and help. I hope all you guys dont have friends and family down in the Victoria fires. My heart is with the people down there even if they play funny football. All the dams are full here, we are right on the edge of it thsi year, last year mackay had a 1 in a 100 year flood on Valentines day. Almost exactly 1 year later we are watching it all again.

With all this Global warming stuff, its lucky we all have fuel guzzeling boats to protect ourselves. By the way, Did Noah have a four Winns?

hey aussie James rang me yesterday and said that he pulled the engine out of the boat just to see if there was any damage to it because the gimbal bearings had craked and the bearings went flying out. Engine is all good. He had found rust in the U joints from it sitting on its trailer at stkilda marina exposed to salt. He told me to find the name of the repairer that fixed up my props when they were hit on rocks because they didnt put in the bushes properly and the shaft was pulled out a bit and wasn't sitting properly so overtime salt water had gone into the outdrive and rusted the parts in the outdrive. So was going to take the outdrive apart today and ring me tomorrow (Wednesday) and let me know what the damage is.

Kyp2,

I'm glad the engine is OK. The rest sounds a mess. How far the DPS bushings are pressed into the props varies a little from prop to prop . Some I've had were flush with the internal stop on the prop bore, others were 2-3 mm away from the stop. I can't understand how that would affect the propshafts the way described (unless the bushing positions were so far out that the props were actually in contact with each other).

When you got the props repaired, did you get the propshafts runout checked? The outer, hollow shaft holding the forward prop in particular is quite easily bent, it is usually the forward prop that takes the brunt of any impact! The spec for the runout between the inner and outer shafts is quite tight, less than 0.03 mm, excessive runout between the shafts could I suppose lead to sealing issues.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Graham

Hi Graham, i'm in the UK later this month (in London and at RAF Halton in Aylesbury) - I'm guessing with all the snow you've been getting that going boating is out of the question...!!

Hi all,

I am in Kununurra, top end of West Oz. We have an excess of fresh water here, so am getting into the whole wakeboarding thing. The old polycraft was ust no good. Boat is still in Perth and should be transported here by mid next week. When it gets here I will post some pics.

Cheers

Alec,

A bit too cold for boating here for me at the moment; no wind and calm seas though, which is more than can be said about last "Summer" !
