Oh, the joy of being a two boat owner. Two boats to clean, maintain, run, pay taxes on, etc... I remember those days well and I sure am glad that little nightmare is over. Personally, I would cut the price significantly because the longer your boat sits, the more likely it will develop mechanical issues and then you have to come out of pocket to get it running again. Life is too short to have to worry about two boats all the time but, then again, the boating season is right around the corner. (I just had a mini nightmare about how many years I told myself that.) Good luck moving her and she looks great.

When I'm shopping for big ticket items (cars, boats, houses, whatever), if I see anything that could be better, my first thought is, "I wonder what else the guy didn't take care of?" And yes, with the inherent risks of buying a used boat (no matter what it looks like cosmetically - yours is outstanding!), combined with the current economy & boat market, that would go a long way toward steering me elsewhere, or at least to look awhile longer. It would be different if we were in a market where good used boats were few & far between.

I agree with the above comments. I personally can over look a few things. The boat I bought had some pine needles and leaves in it from when they had it out last fall with the for sale sign. It is also not as clean as I would have had it, but I knew what I wanted and what it was worth to me. Do you have a sales contract with them to sell it for x amount of time? If not I would get it out of their to someone else. There is no reason to have stuff laying around in the boat like that. Makes you wonder what they are doing to it when you are not there.

Sounds like either cold feet or looking to knock some off the price. I looked at boats that were newer and not in anywhere near the condition yours is in. If that's dirty, I hope he doesn't ever expect to use the boat.

He did knock some off price when he made the offer which I accepted. Robbo he is from you area to. IMO the boat is very clean for its age. I know you tend to look at things like how dirty it might be and what it make you think of how well it was taken care. This is why when i buy used stuff like a boat I take it home and completly go over it with a fine tooth comb. I spent a good 2 full days going over my new boat cleaning, checking, changing fluids, and fixing any minor little problems. I knew when I bought my new boat it was not very well taken care of, but I could not pass on it because of price. There was nothing wrong with it that could not be easily fixed with a little time spent on my part. I guess to me a realy good price is sometimes more important as I am pretty handy in the garage and can fix just about anything myself. All mechanical things are just nut & bolts so it can always be fixed and or cleaned.

If you are useing the boat, and trying to sell it at the same time, would you
expect the boat to be perfectly spotless 24-7 ?

To me it would depend, in part, on the type of boat. Keeping an in-water boat spotless at all times would seem to me to be impossible, i.e., "I couldn't keep it spotless either." A trailer boat, on the other hand - if I were trying to sell one, in this market, I would either not use it, or use it with the understanding that the whole thing has to be gone over again after use.

Funny we go to Oshkosh for our boats when there's a dealer right around the corner.

I'm sure you can find flaws in anything if you look hard enough, but at the price you're asking I've see a lot worse. I'm sure you'll get a buyer as spring gets closer, I check the for sale board there often and found that as spring nears, the boats start to disappear.
