Our local FW dealer has an '08 248, boat show price of 59K. MSRP of 88K. Not a great deal in my book. Whats the link to your local dealer cougar? 52K doesn't sound like a bad deal...we haven't been aboard a 258 yet.

Fire,
I know some people hate these guys, but IF this boat is what it claims to be, it might be worth a trip over to Ohio to take a look. 2008 258V @ $51K.

Fire,

No personal experience with the outfit selling this one, but I have read some negative things. With that said, that seems like a ridiculously good price for that one! I'd jump on it, but a genset is a must-have on my list.

Why is the genset a must have? I successfully used a Honda 2000 on my 25 crusier. Very efficient and quiet. I agree it makes the experience that much nicer to have 110V though.

Thanks for all of the thoughts. I closed the deal on the 258 today! Pickup on Saturday. I'll post some pics as soon as I can. Obviously excited. Looking forward to long nights in front of this screen pondering upgrades and modifications!

Congrats Andy! You'll have to send me a PM with what else they had down there and what happens to your 200!

Since this thread is about considering 258s....I'll keep it going. What is the opinion of this boat by National Liquidators? It says the minimum bid is 51k, but then looking at their website they say they sell for above and below the minimum bid.

By the info provided, its hard to tell. Just wondering about hours. Noticed no trailer and no bottom paint. Would like to know where the boat was used. No experience with buying from National Liquidators. Do you have FW dealer close by for service? If its a 2008, you should have a small part of factory warranty left.

I was looking at a 318 over the winter. From my conversations with them in Florida, that minimum bid doesnt mean much. Bid whatever you want, they take it to the lender and let you know within 3-4 days if accepted, declined or counter offer. If declined it goes back in the action pool for next week. Bid oppenings are monday and offers go to the lender on tuesdays. IMO start on the lowside (reasonable though) and keep working up. That vessel has been there several months, so the lender may be ready to off it.

The 258 is from Indiana, and from the rest of the pics I've seen, its pretty clean. Just needs a set of props, although I'm not sure what options it has.

Who wants to buy a 225 Sundowner

Fire,
You will need a trailer for that re-po boat, which will run you $3500 to $4200 made for the 258. You should consider one that already has a trailer, as you will need it. I would not be worried about viewing a little one sleeping in the mid cabin, I have several friends that own these, and the cabin is easy to access, and would be just fine for small kids.
Take a look at this, the buy it now price is good, and it's in Indiana. I think you will wish you went with a larger boat if you settle on a 248 or 258.

Thanks. I showed that 260 to my wife on eBay last night, its either the second or third time I've seen it listed. Gorgeous boat, just out of our range. I found an OEM trailer for that '08, it might even be the original that shipped with that boat!

Back to the OP, has anyone heard from SundayDinner? He should have picked up his 258 by now....

Time for your yearly boat buying trip to Pennsylvania. Pretty decent price
for a 258, if it is as nice as it looks.

I have it on good authority that the deal was done and he's having the dealer deliver it in a few weeks.
