How about rates in Florida ? I almost left my boat in CT when I moved here last year. I got quotes from $4K to $12K. No claims and 20yrs boating experience.

waytooslow, any idea from any other part of that policy as to whether this language means no coverage for damage sustained in a tornado? The way I read what you posted, there is none.

"We will apply a separate hull deductible to losses caused by wind, rain, wave or hail when those losses are the result of either a Tropical Depression, Tropical Storm, or Hurricane." - no mention of Tornado - So I would think covered with no deductable.

AH, I read it too quickly-missed the first part. That is good that you get standard coverage for a good old fashioned twister.

I have a question on the type of boat insurance I should be looking at. I just bought my 1988 Horizon 200 in january. I need to get it insured before we start taking it out. With older boats like this what kind of policy do you recomend? Some info about me to help. I am single no kids. I will be taking my nephews fishing and pulling friends around the lake. I paid 4000.00 for the boat. How much coverage do I need? My house is not in my name so I don't have assets to protect there. I understand that ACV sucks and is the cheapest. I guess what I want is if someone gets hurt while I am towing them that I am protected. Also if I was to hit a rock and toast the outdrive I would want it fixed with minimal out of pocket expense.

Thanks in advance.

get a stated value policy. As long as you are realistic with your valuation, I don't see any reputable insurance agency turning you away.

As for the outdrive scenario - for what you will probably insure the boat for' they might total the boat out rather than fix it. Fixing outdrives can be spendy - and your boat is probably not high enough value to spend 4k on an outdrive replacement?

I am with Safeco insurance... have all the multi policy discounts and no claims history.

For the 318 - we have a 140k stated value policy (which is more than we paid for the boat, but less than NADA). 14k for unattached items. $500 deductibles. $500k liability (umbrella covers beyond). $875 per year.

And, we're considered coastal -- I can go up to Canada, but I am not covered if I go to Alaska.

Anyone else getting quotes from Safeco? I thought it was alot - now I think this is pretty good.

Good point on the outdrive. Being it is OMC it would be more expensive to fix I am sure.

I currently have Progressive. I contacted NBOA and they said that they would use Progressive too, and they would have been the same $$.
