Well, it's been a long time(not since high school), but I broke a bone. I was at the boat storage on sat morning and as I was moving around the front of the trailer I tripped over the tounge and came down with all my weight on my left elbow and right knee. My left elbow is a mess. Split the head of the large bone in two and hairline fracture in the smaller long bone in my forearm. Having surgery on tues to repair it. All this sitting around is not my style. Good thing is I've done about all my pre season projects and summerization so as soon as I'm ready the boat is ready. It's all good, I'm taking it in stride and just a small bump in the road of life.

It is. They've given me Vicodin for pain and 800MG Motrin for the swelling. I've been putting ice on it, keeping elevated etc, but my hand still looks like a puffer fish. Can't see the rest of my arm cause it's in a splint, but I hope the swelling is minimal so they can operate tues.

Bummer - so close to launch!

If you need a good ortho doc, call David Evanich at Orthopedic Associates in Lewisville and Flower Mound. He's healed a broken hand for me, and I really need to see him again for a screwed up elbow. Super guy.

Hyperextended it about 2 months ago playing basketball, and like most guys I refuse to just rest and let it heal. Still - I would think it should be mostly better by now unless I really did do some damage to it.

I hear that. If you did do some internal damage such as a torn tendon or ligament, only surgery will fix that, not time. Not trying to scare you just, if your still having frequent pain best to talk to your doc about it.

My surgery is 10 am tomorrow. I can't wait actually. I am so ready to get this thing fixed. I know it's going to be months before it's even close to normal, but just will be really good to get on with it.

It's been a pretty crappy weekend as far as how I'm feeling, I'll explain more in a bit. Amazing week as far as how fast this has gone. I did some pretty good damage to my left elbow. The Radius bone head is now a metal head and I have a metal plate in, holding the ulna (sp) bone together as well. The surgery was last tues morning. Fri morning I went back to the Dr. office and he removed the splint so I can start moving my arm around and get to physical therapy. I have Physical Therapy scheduled for this afternoon. It's pretty amazing how fast this Dr. got me moving again. I have limited mobility and strength, but that will all come back with time. He said he expects me to make a full recovery (motion and strength). So Fri I got the splint removed and Fri afternoon started feeling sick. So, On top of the arm pain I got a cold that's been kicking my arse. Not fun to be me right now, but it'll all get better. I go in this fri for x-ray's to check everything and he's gonna give me copies. I try to get one posted here so you guys can see the carnage.
