Very smart Capn and very well said Nice Guy. There are a lot of people who "can" afford payments for 10, 15 or 20 years...but why would you want to. How do you every upgrade without taking a major bath because you are upside down? Plus...as said above, a majority of all those owners do not have the capital to pay it off anyway even if they needed to.

I wouldn't mind a boat mortgage so long as it's my "last" boat. And at the rate I change vehicles and boats it wasn't a smart move for sure. I think "for me" my best course of action is to just chill, be thankful of what I have and enjoy it until I find the boat I really want (and that one will be BIG and will be the last one I ever buy).

A 2000 248 Vista for $28K

Another 2000 248 Vista. 5.7L engine too. Not bad at $25,995

Lots of boats out there to browse. Good way to spend my lunch hour.

No heat or ac or other "extras" with those 248s I guess my price is on point. Thanks that helps, for comparison... I've been too busy to do it!

Definately not many 2000 models with A/C. Yours is priced competitively.

Here is a reasonable price for a pretty much loaded 2002 248 Vista at $36,900.

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2002- ... a-92760016

And another 2002 248. $33,900

http://www.yachttraderonline.com/find/l ... A-94051453

I was amazed at how many 268's are out there for sale, it's always been a popular model, and seems to be a popular one on the used market right now. Can't say the same for 328 Vista's. They are out there, but still command top dollar for a used one.

Cap'n, that '00 at GSC sold a while back. Your right, a TON of 268s out there. A LOT more than there are 225s...but I bet they made a lot more of them also. A great time to be in the buyers seat!

There is an 05 248V on ebay right now, another Bank Repo! 147 hours, primo condition, NO RESERVE and fairly loaded, 5.0 Fresh Water Cooled OSXi DP drive etc, currently at $13,600.00

Kind of hard for us legitimate folks to get anything near what they are worth with so many repo's on the market.

I'm in market for a 2006 318 and have seen nothing but overpriced $120K and up boats out there. How can people expect so much for their 318's when the NADA low retail Blue Book is about $82K w/o options added in. Low Blue seems about right in a severe recession, right? I assume these sellers will get no where until they lower price to well under $100K. This forum even suggests new 2007's can be had for $120 or so, perhaps lower.

I've found that your best bet is buying a new 08 leftover. I found two 08 338s that were used one for 8 hours and the other for 100. Neither could touch what I can get an 08 leftover for between the factory incentives and the dealers ready to get rid of them. Buy a leftover! I bet you could get under 120!!

I'd be interested in knowing more about the boat your dealer has. We are in Va, but are willing to transport via truck.

moorejcjr - check your PM inbox. I sent you all of the pertinent details privately last night.
Send me a PM if you didn't get it for some reason and I'll respond ASAP.

Your boat is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. I mean those guys with the 318s at $120k may think that is what their boat is worth. But with nobody willing to pay that, it is not worth that. Don't get me started on upgrades. Just because you add $1,000 XYZ Gizmo to your boat does not make the value go up by $1,000.

Good luck on your search Capn and mkivbren, it is a lot of fun. This might be the last summer for the Silverton. I have my eye on a "gently used" 2007 Hatteras 64 Enclosed Bridge. Not the time to move on it now, but might be by fall.
