Sierra, I was just admiring your bottom paint line - looks like its maybe an inch above the WL. As part of my deal, the dealer was going to have my bottom painted and I'm having second thoughts. The other 338 I looked at is in the water and I looked at it and the paint is WAY high, it looks horrible and the owner is sick about it. I think I'm just going to have the boat shipped (I want it so bad I can't take it anymore anyway!) slipped and put a waterline on it and then have it painted up here where I'll have some control over it. Can you confirm the measurement (aprox.) of paint above the WL?

Thanks!

They did do a great job with the bottom paint on my boat - I am very pleased. In the picture above I'm at about 90% fuel with two people on board, no water and not fully geared. I can certainly take that measurement for you over the weekend but it obviously varies depending on the load. Your plan sounds perfect - you definitely want a well-established scum line. Thinking back, mine was established with about 1/2 fuel, no water and little gear. I have no complaints with how it worked out. If you plan to carry fresh water most of the time you might consider holding half a tank while the line sets since it will obviously change the bow attitude slightly. The paint on my boat is Petit Unepoxy #1810.
