Good luck on your search Capn and mkivbren, it is a lot of fun. This might be the last summer for the Silverton. I have my eye on a "gently used" 2007 Hatteras 64 Enclosed Bridge. Not the time to move on it now, but might be by fall.

It is also your opinion that upgrades do not increase the value, of course this is not the truth and sites such as NADA do factor in certain upgrades.

Things like Gensets, AC, Radar, Electronics etc.. DO add to the value.

Facts straight would be nice here. Never said it does not make the value go up at all. Sometimes they do, like the ones you listed can make it go up if the future potential owner wants that stuff. I just said that if someone spends lets say $2,500 on an upgrade, they can't expect to get an additional $2,500 out of it when they sell it.

Depends on the option as far as how much potential there is to recoup what was spent.

Items like Gensets and other convinience items tend to raise the value of the boat and keep it elevated, for example the average increase in price for a used boat with a gen set versus the same boat without, is roughly 10 grand. With this absolutely horrific market right now, that may or may not hold true, but it used to.

Right now, buyers think boats should be nearly free....

Both valid points. And some mods people place a lot of value on such as a windlass. I installed it before I ever even splashed the boat. Pulling the anchor up on the horizon was enough for me. I was pleasantly surprised yesterday - I had two strong offers on the 248. It may be sold this weekend! FW has a great reputation and people evidently recognize that. I really don't want to be a 3 boat owner

Wow, somebody will get a decent deal on this boat if they are shopping for a loaded 27 ft. express.

A little bump on this old thread. I have been following this boat for the last 2 months. He has now dropped $12K from what he first offered it for. Getting closer to being almost affordable.
http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/boa/1155424579.html

But, as has been said in other threads recently, selling a used boat is next to impossible right now, unless you owe nothing on it, or are willing to give it away at a loss. And I am not in a position to do either. Too bad, I sure would love to suprise the wife on Mother's Day with a 328 Vista.

Cap'n Morgan,

We are on the same page...I have my eye on a 328/338 also. That boat at the price though seems like one heck of a deal if it is in good shape as indicated by the ad. Unfortunately for me its all the added costs that go with a boat of that size that would keep me from pulling the trigger.

That seems like a good deal from the looks of it.

The smaller boats (bow riders / cuddy) seem to be selling in my area. The cruisers are taking longer.

Good luck to all of us.
Bill

I agree 100%, we are defininately on the same page ! I have already looked at the boat once, it is as advertised. But like you said, the added costs, all totaled, just do not justify the move for us either.

That's not a bad price, but not anything special. There are a bunch of those 350's on the market now. It is a fugly boat, but the interior space is outstanding. For reference, you can get a 2000 for about the same price.

From what I can see, cuddys like mine aren't staying on the market long near you.

I always loved the cuddy I had. The marina where mine is has an cuddy for sale that I don't think it will last long.

I can't understand why yours didn't sell.

When I win Powerball I will give you a call. I would love to have a cuddy for the lake house(note the powerball reference in regards to a lake house)

A Georgia dealer has apparently lost their FW line. I don't know about the other models, but $199 for an '09 V358 with full electronics and Crusaders is an unbelievable deal. There's an '09 V318 for $160 (but it's that highly controversial pastel blue color). Their FW listings are here.

Edit: I just realized this was covered in another thread - it was the V358 price that caught my eye. Sorry for the duplicate post.

No problem sierra. That is what this thread is for (now). Post what you find that might be a deal or of interest to someone who may, or may not be shopping for a boat.

It will be interesting next year to see how some of these prices we see today, compare.
