I got that idea from a boat at our marina last year. It was pretty sweet. I'm not talking spot lights but just enough to make it glow and they were concealed inside so you couldn't see them from far away. Just Enough to illuminate the gel coat inside the opening.

I know this kind of install will probably be ok being right at the vents and all, but must caution against the install of any electrical item (and I know the draw on LEDS is way small) in the engine compartment that does not carry an ignition protection rating. Spark + fumes = boom.

The lights are actually in the engine compartment. They are located outside the boat.

I hear what your saying, but it really couldnt be any worse than the water pump or the battery charger for that matter, that is already in the engine compartment.

Nice job woggy!! Im going to put that on my list of mods. I like it!

Hey Impulse - I know I'm a month late here, but where did you mount the strips in the bow? My 200 has no where in the bow to conceal them. I really like the downward light they give you under the helm and glovebox, as well as in the side cubbies. No direct light. I can't see how this would be possible in the bow, but your bow looks lit.

I don't have a close up of it, but I just stuck them right under the seat back cushion firing down using the supplied 3m double stick tape (adheared to the side of the strip and the fiberglass). Just be sure to clean the fiberglass good with some alcohol. I had to drill a tiny hole for the wiring, but you can't see it. I drilled as close to the underside of the seat back cushion as I could. Hope this helps.

David

We really liked Woggys lights when we saw them a few weeks ago. Definatly something I will do to our next boat, but I can't justify putting them on a boat we know we will sell in the near future.

Where are people getting the cupholders with LED's in them? I would prefer to hard wire them, not use batteries...

Are they a match to the ones I/we have now? I really like the stainless ones I have now, but I'd like a trim ring under them with leds in it. Any idea if this is possible to find?

I hate ebay. I'll have a look though...

On one of these posts in here, I think it was Jim_R that used his exsisting cupholders and drilled a small hole in the side of each one and attached a single led. I'll try looking for the post later.

I found those too, and they look decent enough. Anybody know if they are drop-ins for our boats? I'd hate to be cutting the fiberglass for something so silly as an LED cupholder. Stereo stuff is one thing, but I can't cut for a cupholder with lights in it!

As cool as they are that would be $290.00 for me to replace the 10 cupholders I have in my boat. I added 4 more ss one's at the end of last year. I think I'll just keep what I have for now.
