You suspect fuel.... how many gallons of the old stuff did you have sitting in there? Any ethanol in it?

I suggest u get a small portable tank with a couple fresh gallons and put your fuel line in that. This way you can eliminate bad fuel and go from there.

When was the last time u did a tune up? Carbed or EFI?

This crappy gas we are using is really a pain in the you know what. Change out your fuel filter and add some fuel stabilizer. If you are carbed, you probably have plugged jets. Just remove the top piece of the carb and clean out the bowl and srpay out the jets. My friends boat had the same problem this past weekend and we got it running in about 2 hours. Had to do both of his engines.

Might be your fuel pump. I have a 98 VP 5.7GSi and I just had to replace the low pressure fuel pump. At first, it would run at idle and just die, and each time I tried to restart it, it would run for less time and then die again. I replaced the pump and relay and it runs like a top again. See if your fuel pump primes itself when you turn the ignition on. One way to test your problem is to unhook the electrical connector to the fuel pump and see if you get the same results. Just a thought.
