Anyone know off hand where the oil pressure sensor is located on the engine block or where I can find it online in a manual?

+1 also.

While boating last week, I happened to look down at the gages and saw 0 on the oil pressure gage. Had a full boat and pulling a tube but I slammed it into neutral, although the engine wasn't making any unusual noise. I had a general idea where the oil pressure sender was (I've hot rodded small block chevy's) so I dug around and found the wire loose. Tightened it up and normal oil pressure returned!

I have the same question, but want to make sure I am in the right place. The only thing I can see on my Volvo Penta 4.3GL that resembles an Oil Pressure Sender (keep in mind I am no mechanic) is the spot in the picture below identified with the green arrow. There is a mushroom shaped unit with a wire connecting to the top. That is actually the only thing I see under there with a wire running to it. From the picture below (which I found on Volvo's site), I don't even have whatever is identified by the red arrow in the picture. On mine, all I see is a bare threaded post.

My Questions:
1) Have I correctly identified the oil pressure sender with the green arrow?
-> If not, what is the green arrow pointing to?
2) What is the red arrow pointing to and should my engine have it?

Bare with me guys, I am learning :?

I have the same boat, year, engine as you do. Sorry to change the subject but I want to know about the swim platform you have. Did you have it installed or did the boat come with it? Information on your original question is helpful also.

I got it @ swimplatforms.com. I put it in myself. Not a bad job but you have to be a bit of an contortionist to get back under the engine compartment to get some bolts in. Well worth it, though.

I see that this topic took a bit of a turn on me, but I am still looking for some answers to my questions a couple posts up. If anyone can identify those parts for me, I would really appreciate it. I am anxious to figure out the latest issue.

Thanks!

I don't have a 4.3, but here's my input. Given that the green arrow is right above the oil filter I'd guess that it is the oil pressure sender. I don't think there'd be any other passages in the block back there other than oil.

My guess for the red arrow would be coolant temp since the coolant passages are right there (you can see the core plugs(freeze plugs)). There's not usually any oil passages in the outside of the block (Except for the one by the oil filter mentioned above.)

I don't know what the green arrow is pointing to, but isn't the red arrow pointing towards a knock sensor/ block drain? I am probably completely wrong !

Graham, I think you are closer for the red arrow. Coolant temp sensor is up front by the thermostat. I didn't think through my previous post.
