An auction that was scheduled to take place this morning in Chicago for the assets of Crownline Boats has been "postponed indefinitely," according to a spokeswoman at the law office of Proskauer Rose. She did not have any information as to why this morning's auction was cancelled

Crownline’s machinery, equipment, molds and customer information were among the assets up for auction. The West Frankfort plant closed in December, but the company announced it planned to open the facility again in early 2009. In June, Nautic Global Group announced then reneged on a plan to purchase the boat manufacturer.

Officials with the Franklin County Regional Economic Development Corporation had been seeking potential buyers to purchase the plant in its entirety. Corporation board Chairman Allan Patton said in late July at least one of the companies they had spoken with showed interest in buying Crownline.

I heard a rumor that there is talks of a private firm to purchase Crownline in the works. And no, it's not Rinker or the Nautic group.

We'll see if there's any actual validity to that. No ETA on an announcement that I have found?

Crownline Boats has been purchased and will resume production in the near future, the company announced today. Zielinski has extensive experience working for Ford Motor Company within their dealer development department and also owns a marine retail establishment in Wisconsin. Wilson started Misty Harbor in 1990 and has managed and grown the business to be a leading pontoon manufacturer.

The company also announced that the original leadership team will be rejoining the company. Kevin Riem will be vice president and general manager, Guy Coons will be CFO, Tami Murphy will be director of manufacturing operations and Nathan Heisner will be manager of inside sales.

"Crownline is very excited about our team's future and all the possibilities this exciting new opportunity brings with it," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to the opportunity to reconnect with all of our valued Crownline dealer partners and our employees as we move forward into the future."
