You don't need algebra, It's STANDARD Pratice in the aviation FAA & mfg's manuals to use the 90 degree method

Well, yeah, it is.... except when you cannot get the wrench in the 90* position.

I have even used a wrench and a "fish" scale to get the right torque when nothing else would fit!!!

torque (inch-lbs) = "inches" x "lbs"

Sort of like doing "weight & balance"!

So, just to update my situation. PhilDill came through bigtime for me. They were able to replace the pump by mid afternoon on Friday and we picked the boat up on our way out of town. We left a few hours later than we orginally planed on but we were still able to enjoy our weekend out on the boat. All charges were thankfully covered under warrenty. I am very greatfull to Greg my service advisor at PhilDill for working me in with their long line of other boats.

Thats good news. You must be slipping them some extra cash on the side. I have always been VERY nice (other than when they had my boat for 6 weeks)....but havent gotten that sort of treatment yet. We will see.

While I agree with some of you about it being odd that the pump is externally mounted compared to other systems....this does make one thing VERY easy...SERVICING!!!! There is no laying on your back, twisted like a pretzel to try to track down any leaks, or check things. Its a very modular, simple design and surely makes repair times simple and easy. The flip to this design is that they pretty much replace the pump for ANY problem, rather than repair anything....that could get expensive.
