Purchased 1991 Sundowner 5.7. Having trouble finding replacement hose #0914807 Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

That's a problem with anything powered by OMC. Doug Russell Marine indicates that it's NLA (no longer available) They also say "Please Call".

If you haven't called them you might give it a try. They may have a suitable replacement..... A lot of the common parts are just running out and getting harder to find.

I think you could just take the old one and find something automotive that's close and trim it to fit. Otherwise you could use a couple of straight or curved pieces of hose and and some PVC fittings. There's essentially very little pressure and it doesn't get all that hot if it's raw water cooled. (140* F or so).

The diameters they list for those hoses look like they might be larger than what that application requires. Still, nice to see someone makes that sort of thing. Would've been handy for an old Cadillac of mine when it blew the main hose and I couldn't easily find a direct replacement. Now there's a lot of aftermarket sources for custom stuff like that.

I'd second the suggestion to look into using automotive radiator or heating hoses. The need being to have hose that's got a solid enough wall so that it won't collapse under the suction/pressure of water flow through it.

I believe you can also get custom made reinforced silicone hoses made up from a selection of standard profiles (in all sorts of fancy colours).

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate the help.

How often should you replace your hoses? Hoses had somewhat of a crunching feeling when squeezed however there is no visible sign of dry rot etc.

Hose lifespan varies widely. Fuel and sewage hoses though don't tend to last much more than 5 years before they start to start leaching smells. I've heard of people getting 10 years out of boat coolant hoses though. If you get to 7 without incident then you're ahead of the game.
