Being new to the forum as well as boating for only the past 4 years I have gained a great deal of respect for those of you who post your thoughts on this forum. The amount of knowledge that is offered here is outstanding. I started 4 years ago with a smaller fishing boat and we totaly enjoy being on the water. Recently I upgraded to a bit larger but older 1985 170 Horizon with the 3.0 140 hp iron duke (I thought I would grow in small incraments, gaining experience at each level before I plunge into something I can't handle). I know from reading many of your posts and the pics you offer that my boat could serve as a dinghy for some of you but here in Wisconsin it fairs quite well on many of our lakes. Enjoy reading your entries!

Welcome fellow Cheesehead! Where in Wisconsin and what lakes do you go out on? I started also with a 1991 FW 170 Freedom and five years later am up to a 25' Baja. Oshkosh here and we go out on Winnebago a lot so hence the bigger boat. Took the 170 on Winnebago a few times and not much fun. Oh we all like pics here so get some of your boat posted.

I live in Beaver Dam (30min N of Madison) so we spend most of our time on Beaver Dam and Big Green. We also have a summer place North of Wisconsin Dells and love to go on Petenwell and Casle Rock. I am very familiar with Oshkosh as a grad of the University. I also had a cousin who used to live there and spent many hours on Winnebago racing sail boats at a local yacht club. I am looking forward to upgrading maybe in a couple years to something that I could take on Lake Michigan. I have relatives who live in Port Washington and have talked to many boaters from Milwaukee and Chicago who enjoy just spending their weekends boating back and forth. Before I bought my first boat I read an article about not going to big to fast and it seems to be working for us, plus it's always fun to be looking for the next one, I just hope I don't run out of time :). Was it your posting I read you have younger kids? Mine are grown up and pretty independant. I have one still in high school and 1 in college. They both love to be on the boat whenever possible! You have access to alot of nice boating up there by you!!!!

Welcome...I was up on Petenwell last week when it was a little windy and rough, not too many people out mid-week. It's a little different than the lake we're used to, but worth exploring again. My parents have a place over by the county park, so we go up a few times a year to that area.

Robbo3,
We have a place that is close to the lake as well. Have made many memories and still making them at the Bay Rest down the road. How was the water when you were up? At times it can be a bit alge filled which makes for extra cleaning when done! I will try to get some pics posted soon!

There was plenty of algae in the water. My dad said the smell was real bad due to the algae a couple of days before we arrived. Good thing we were mainly there for fishing since I don't think I would have gotten anyone to swim in that water, even if it had been warm enough.

Thanks to all for the welcome!!!!!!! I haven't had the boat long but we are enjoying it. The Wisconsin Fall is starting to hit but I'm hoping for one more weekend of fun over Labor Day on Castle Rock before it gets put away. It seems all I do is work so sorry for the delay in the pictures :x .

Thanks again!!
