Mine has sat in the side storage since I took delivery. I haven't drilled any holes to mount it permanently because the law seems pretty vague and up for interpretation. What do they really mean by "accessible"?

I want it out of the way, but I doubt tucked down on the side wall of the floor storage compartment would pass a safety check.

Mine is under the helm or steering wheel to the left of the slanted foot rest. I would have probably put it to the right but either place works for me.

Same here. I've seen others mounted to the left of the helm seat, which is a little more out of the way yet still accessible.

Ours is not mounted. It's stored in side the cabin door on the shelf above the "small" closet aft of the head. We passed 5 inspections with flying colors. At least for us, it does not need to be mounted. Coast Guard just wanted to see it, have it "readily accessible", and not be expired.

I do believe it is most accessible closest to the captain as possible, but not in the way.
I need to mount ours, just haven't done it yet.

My 260 has one mounted under the helm as well. It is mounted parallel to the helm just above the carpet. The dealer mounted it. Actually a pretty good spot out of the way but accessible. I also have one "loose" behind the seat back under the helm.

You can just barely see it in the picture, but sounds like same as most everyone else. Either FourWinns or PhilDill put it there, I didn't. But, It's a good location.
