I am upgrading my deck speakers and need some help. Does anyone know and can explain how to remove the side panel to get access to the speaker to replace it before I just rip it off?

There are several threads on this. Try a search.

Yeah I tried a search and have read every thread that came up with Vista and Speakers. nada that is helpful. If you know how, a simple heres how would be helpful. Otherwise I will ask somewhere else.

It helps if you post the model of your boat. Typically we all put it in the signature. The User Control Panel link, above right, will let you do it.

While you're there also update your location. The location helps get answers from people that know the area. Salt vs fresh water, lakes vs ocean, etc.

Must be something about the Georgia heat.

Here is a brief synopsis of what needs to be done, pictures courtesty of Al.
There are screws on the underside of the Port panel. Remove them. Then lift the entire panel off it's clips. Remove old speaker, install new. Put back together in reverse order. Starboard speaker is self explanitory.

As Bill said please do update your model and year in your signature. Without this info I can't guarantee this will work but I have posted on how I have done this on my boat here a couple of times.

I am assuming that you have a 248 Vista since you pic shows no radar arch. There are 2 screws you need to remove. One is on a small stainless steel flange that is towards the cabin door side. The other is hidden behind the speaker cloth. Take these 2 screws out and then lift the whole piece off of the hooks behind it.

if it is the same as mine this is how it was explained to me and it was perfect.

Brijr77, I too have an 05' 268. Been a great boat and would be glad to answer any questions you have. I recently replaced all my speakers and added an amp and sub. I would be glad to help with any questions you had.

For the portside speaker. All the speakers are an easy swap if you wanted to change them for any reason. The portside is probably the hardest of them all, but still pretty easy. To get that panel up there is a screw on the bottom side of the panel towards the front of the boat, you will have to get on your knees to see it. Unscrew that and list that end of the panel straight up. There are about 5 hooks on the back that attaches it to the wall you will lift it out of. I never could find the other screw for the other side, but you won't need to for a speaker replacement. Either have somebody hold that panel or use a rope, like I did, and tie it up while you do the swap. Simple as 4 screws and 2 wires.

Thanks all for your help! I will try it this weekend. BTW I am installing MB Quart component speakers to get a deeper bass and less distortion from the separate tweeters. Will let you know how it sounds after the install.

P.S. Wasn't trying to be nasty as was apparently interpreted.

I have updated my profile with year and model now.

Thanks everyone for your help. I got my speakers installed this weekend. They sound great and the tweeters really help. I forgot my camera so will take pics and post them next weekend.
