Can anybody tell me the exact step-by-step process to winterize this engine and outdrive? I sure would appreciate it. The dealer that I bought the boat from went out of business and now the closest dealership that works on Volvo engines is about 2 hours away from me. Needless to say, if I can do it myself, I would just prefer to save the time and money by doing it myself. Also, I don't have the muffs to hook up to the raw water intake, so can I just use the hose attached directly to the engine block to get A/F into the cooling system? Also, due to bad weather for most of the summer, we only put about 10 hours on the engine this summer, do I need to change the oil and lower unit oil again this year with having put so few hours on it? Thank you!

I just bought the Seloc manual for my 07 200ss GXi/sx drive the manual was about 35 dollars and it is awesome, great illistrations and wording that is easy to understand they even have a sense of humor in the manual, it has a detaled section for winterizing thats not to exensive but to much to type. Really if you just spent 40k on a boat what another 35 bucks. http://www.selocmarine.com/

You really have to get a manual (factory is best) and follow the procedure step by step...I have been doing this now for 7 years with our first boat and the whole process takes me about 2 hrs...I do change the engine oil +filter and the drive oil at the same time...
Your main priority with winterizing is to DRAIN WATER from all drain points...do not try to winterize a raw water cooled engine by sucking antifreeze up the drive as some do....if the thermostat does not open all the way the AF will not get sucked into the block...only the ex manifolds and then you risk a cracked block. Plus if you look at a factory or even aftermarket manual NO engine manufacturer recommends doing that...a short cut that sometimes works (if you do it on a hot day so the engine warms up fast) and some times does not (cool day or sticky thermostat). If you want to use AF...what I do is drain it manually...then back fill the engine and manifolds through the cooling hoses till a little AF runs out the thermo housing and drains...then I put some grease on the threads of the drain plug and reinstall them...then fill the engine/manifolds till full...
You've got an expensive piece of equipement there...GET THE MANUAL!
