Until now I have always managed to order parts by engine model, but recently I have been asked for the actual engine and drive model numbers. According to my manual these are marked on the engine block, but for the hell of me I can't find them. I have however found these foil stickers as shown in the photos, are they the engine and drive numbers I need, and is it normal for them just to be foil stickers?

I've not come across engine/drive numbers on anywhere but where your's are ( that's where they were on my 1999 boat), or on the plastic engine cover (which is where they are on my 2004 boat).

My '97 has the same type stickers, only located on the port side rocker cover. Sounds like they were kind of liberal whith where they put them.

My '88 had the same thing only the numbers were totally faded out. Document when you have now is my suggestion.
