Lou, Permatex form a gasket #2 sealant looks to be a good choice. It doesn't get hard and in the spec sheet for it it states " Chemical/Solvent Resistance - This product retains effective properties in contact with WATER,ethyline glycol, gasoline, motor oil, transmission fluid, and SEA WATER." It doesn't look like it comes in a can with a brush though. I'm going to get some of this.

Just called Permatex, They said best application would be their Aviation Form a Gasket. Doesn't harden and comes in cans with a brush as well. I tried to pin him down as far as being the sealant maker for VP and Merc, he said he wasn't sure but that they do make sealants for alot of different companies who relabel them as their own.

The VP stuff sounds like the OMC stuff, (or if you prefer, the OMC stuff sounds like the Volvo stuff!), down to the same white bottle with a brush in the cap.

Interesting...I recall someone on iboats saying the Aviation gasket sealer was an acceptable substitue for the OMC stuff....good to have more than one source although my OMC dealer can get just about anything...

I went and got a bottle of aviation at O'reillys today. White 16 oz. plastic bottle with brush in cap. $6.79 plus tax. They say on their website it's just like #2 with oil,antifreeze,water, sea water, etc...
