Can you use mercruiser props on omc king cobra drives? I thought you had to use omc props on omc drives. what pitch props are people running on 211 liberators? I am currently running a 19p stainless on my 460 king cobra drive, I want to get more top speed so I was going to try a 21p. What do you guys think?

Unless you use one of the props that comes with a replacable hub that is specific to the drive...you have to use an OMC design prop on an OMC drive...as far as changing the pitch...what is your max RPM now...if it's right I'd stick with what you have...I'd increase the pitch only if the engine is overrevving at full throttle...

You asked that question in the other thread.....same answer...

You have exactly the prop I have that came off mine.(19p OMC)

My brother bought this boat new and wanted the same thing and found that the 19p SS prop was a little too low.

He tried a a 23 and a 21 and it didn't do the job (they were actually a little too "tall"). He then had the 19 repitched (& cupped) 20 and that's the one I still have.

Let me know if you want it. Otherwise I'll probably put it on ebay along with the 17p I have.

Also, before you do anything, you need to verify your speed with GPS (if you didn't already) AND you need to ensure that your tach is absolutely correct.

The (stock)460 wants to stay in the 4200-4800 range. (Although my brother ran his up to 5000 all the time) You will get the best performance if you prop the engine so that it runs at TOP rpm when lightly loaded at WOT.

Regards,

Rick

Thanks for your response, I just wanted to get as many responses as I could so I could make a decision. You seem to know alot about these boats so I appreciate your quick responses and honest opinions.

Hey Rick, How much do you want for that prop? Do you have any pics of it?

Thanks
Braden

I sent you a PM.....

By the way, if you decide to get my "20", you can then take your 19 to a prop shop and have it cupped/repitched to 20 and will the have the "correct" spare!

Same - same
15 tooth spline 4 3/4 gearcase

OMC 800/King Cobra
Mercury Bravo I

You can use either

I have had both the 800 and now the King Cobra and had the Bravo I Props on them.
They seem to work just fine, but if you speak with a Prop guy, they will tell you the best peak performance for an OMC is the factory ones.
They are getting hard to find. I get everything from Salt Lake City.
