My volvo 5.0 has a flush tube attached to it. In the manual it says you can use this to flush the motor if you are in salt water. And it says to only run at idle if you are in the water because it may suck in salt water to mix with the flush water. But, it doesn't say if you can use this method with a hose rather than using muffs.

So, does anyone know if I can just hook the hose to that connection, turn on the water and start the motor in my driveway? Is that enough water, or do I need to use the muffs?

You can. I've done it with two boats that way. A lot easier than using the muffs.

Thanks! I was hoping that was the case! I assume it'll run out the bottom just like normal?

Yes,water exit wil be as normal; the tube is attached to a "T" piece ( or rather a "Y" piece) in the water inlet hose; any excess water not being taken in by the pump flushes the outdrive.

Yep...you can. I ran mine in the driveway last weekend and have done it before. It works like a champ.
