Sad to say, but this winter was absolutley brutal in the Dallas area. If you did not get out all of the water from the block when you winterized (did you drain the manifolds etc...) you may be dealing with a cracked block. Iy may be time to look at your insurance policy to see if this will be covered. Often, if you can prove it was properly winterized, your insurance company "may" cover this. If not, its going to get expensive, quickly. If that is the case, you need to start talking to a few of the local Volvo dealers and/or a couple local boat service shops to start getting an idea of price to repair/replace. It could be something else, but this winter was brutal.

I would speak with your agent about the insurance end of it.

What year and model is this boat?

If it's not at the dealer yet, try changing the oil first, and run it on the muffs. I ran into this once, not from winterizing, but from the "technique" I used to clear the valves: With the engine running fast idle, spray a light mist of water into the intake/carb. This helps burn carbon off the valves, and is evident in the exhaust. I got carried away one time, and I guess my rings were leaking by a bit as well. Anyhow, you see where this went.

The point I'm making is, coulda been some bad condensation as well or who knons, just check for yourself first before throwing in the towel. Afterall, if the dealer finds out the engine is OK, they may not tell you and do a re-power anyway just for the time/money.

Best of luck!

Just so nobody gets confused, the Volvo warranty doesn't cover freeze damage, unless they've changed it recently. I assume Merc is the same, but don't know that.
