Our house has a wrought iron fence with a gate across the back of the yard and it offers a level of protection to keep the dogs in and the kids in. We have young kids (youngest is almost 6) and we never worry about her in the back yard....especially because of the gate. Its just like anything else with kids...its YOUR ultimate responsibility to supervise them.

We have guns in the house and in a safe also...and my kids know all about them. We gunproof the kids, not kidproof the guns.

+1 and I agree - don't hide them (they'll know about them anyway, you just won't know it), get them completely involved in them, take all the mystique away from them. Sorry for the OT comment, but had to respond to this. And, in a way, maybe it's not 100% OT.

LOL. We had a bar at our old house and didn't use it to much, but it is there. The boat lift at this house will not lift my boat so it would have to go also.

Around here, lifts can be sold and/or traded in with the companies who sell them. You get the right lift for the boat, and someone else gets a lift for theirs at a lower price.
