Nice choice. I've always like Montereys. I almost bought a new 214FS, but then found my Sea Ray 185.

Glad to hear your sticking with the cruiser lifestyle...nice cabin layout also.

I have a friend that has one of those. He loves it. Hard to believe how much more room the larger beam gives. The other thing that I like is no more fooling around with that damned cherry table. You can be reading the paper in the morning over a cup of coffee while the real owner is still sleeping. Great choice and I really hope you stay with this blog. I always look forward to reading your posts.

Great move Cap'n, congrats! Be sure to stick around and keep us posted throughout the season - love to hear your thoughts on ownership (and see more pix of course).

Well done 8)

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Here are a couple more pictures I had. Once we get launched, I'll get some better ones. These will have to do for now.
No keys at the helm station, push button start.

I like it! The more I look at cruisers the more I am sure it will be our next step when we can afford it. Hopefully a few years after kids are out of daycare.

That's a nice clean looking boat, Cap. That 10ft beam makes it look enormous. (That's what she said . . . ;)

Yes, ..... size DOES matter
One more thing you get with the extra beam, is storage. We put everything from our 268 on board the 282 this weekend, and still have places available for more. When we were at the boat this weekend, and I was cleaning the wife's footprints off the ceiling/headliner :) .... I noticed a hinge on the big mirror in the V-berth. It lifts up, and behind the mirror are 4 shelves and a deep bin for yet more storage. I have never seen that in a boat this size before, and I really had no idea it was there when we bought it.

Looks like good weather this next weekend, and the marina is finishing up the work on our 282 today and tomorrow. So we should get on the water Friday or Saturday. We can't wait.
So, until then, here is a factory brochure picture of a 2005 282 just like ours, underway. Only difference is the captain in this picture actually has more than 3 hairs on his head.

Like I have said many times in the past few months. That is a great boat and the deal you came away with makes it even that much better. I know you will have many years of enjoyment out of her.

Many of you know that I was real close to getting that Moneterey 322 back in the fall. Financial timing just wasnt safe. looking back, I could have done it...oh well.

Now, seeing your boat, it really firms up to me....75% chance our next boat will be a Monterey, and 100% chance it will be a cruiser.

Again - congrats!
