What does your oil pressure gauge indicate?

Since I'm starting to think all my gauges are haywire this would probably put the nail in the coffin.

Mine is always showing 80 that is the max BTW as soon as I throttle it goes right to the top.

so far appears only the rpm and speedometer are working.

Trim (not working)
fuel ??? I boated 4 hours at 3000 rpm and the needled hardly moved so I would probably say (not working)
volt meter seems ok but the needle is sometimes freakish and moves up and down in a rapid motion.

So my temperature gauge could be giving me mixed signals

Engine is a 7.4 vp/dp on a 97 vista 265

Thanks Guys

Your gages should be very similar to your last boat. Both boats run on 12 volt electrical systems, both GM motors, so should see similar readings, for operating temps, and pressures.

When buying a used boat, either get a very thorough survey, or have a large repair budget for hidden problems. As you now know.
