Back in another life I was an avid golfer. We'd play when there was still a little snow on some parts of the course (I even got caught in a couple of snow squalls), right up until the snow flew again. We always hated the month of July though. Every fair weather golfer and his brother would be out hacking the course for about 3 or 4 weeks and it would slow play down to a crawl.

It's seems to be the same in boating. This month, this weekend in particular, we're going to have the guys who just brushed all the dirt and leaves off their boats and head up to the lake for some Bud and sun. I don't want to seems snobbish because everyone has the same right to our beautiful lakes just as the fair weather golfer paid the same money as me to play, but I hope you're all going to be safe out there this weekend. It's suppose to be a beauty weather wise around here and I'm really looking forward to the fireworks on the lake this year. (last year it was 45 degrees and drizzle and the town didn't have enough money for fireworks).

Happy boating and be safe!

Dave

It is supposed to be a great weekend here in Michigan as well. We've got the whole week off so we hope to add a lot of hours to the hour meter this year. Last year it was the coldest start to July on record.

Same here  Off to the northern part of the state shortly to drop the boat in the water for 10 days.

Everyone have a safe weekend.

Weather is looking better here in E. Washington. Had rain Friday night, clouds and some wind this morning and sunny and calm this afternoon.

Got the boat all ready, cleaned up our ATVs and put them aside. Prepping the boat for a run on the Columbia River in the afternoon, then we'll hang out and watch the Fireworks from the boat in the river.

Dodged a bullet though, our lovely State decided to STOP mailing renewal notices out for boaters, we never got the notice though. So I look at the registration, what's it say? Expired June 2010 - of course nothing is open. We did the online payment but I'm picturing getting pulled over and harassed all day on the water without the right color tag. So I went to where I know the Sheriff patrol puts in and waited until one of their boats came in. No worries as long as I have the paper showing we paid, he pretty much assured me we'd get stopped once while on the water to check it, but they are going to be easy on it this weekend due to lack of mailing.
